Yes, but this shouldn't be anymore difficult than those that require a work permit. There's been players transfer to British clubs already this summer that previously wouldn't have got a work permit.
CosbehFox Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 Understand there's a clarification on work permit rules now too where the player is allowed to train; just not play in front of a crowd. So bit of a mystery he's not popped up.

Jimopinion Posted 15 July 2023 Posted 15 July 2023 Trey Nyoni has left. He will be signing for Liverpool. Got this info from a trusted source close to Trey father. Its a strange one as the agency that looks after Sammy Braybrooke is the same agency that has engineered the move to Liverpool. A career thought out move or a transactional move? Hmm. Thoughts? 1

I feared this might happen. Nyoni is an exceptional talent, a real loss this is. Possibly paid the price for not giv8ng him as many opportunities last season between U18 and U21s. 1 1
ALC Fox Posted 15 July 2023 Posted 15 July 2023 I'm sure the club are aware of this but we really need to start thinking of our academy as a resource, not just to develop first-team players for us, but also those that will attract relatively decent fees if we deem them not to be up to scratch for us. Easier said than done, of course. And a lot of that will depend on us being a good Premier League team, which looks like it could be a fair way off if looked at pessimistically. Losing our top prospects to Man City and Liverpool is kind of inevitable right now. I know results don't necessarily mean everything at youth team level, but if we could develop a bit of prestige by winning a Youth Cup or PL2 title, that could go a long way
Popular Post filbertway Posted 15 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 15 July 2023 (edited) Sad that he thinks his development will be better served at Liverpool. I honestly don't know what we're playing at. Investment to bring our academy up to the highest possible level must cost less than one below average CB from Southampton. It's so frustrating, I genuinely don't understand the purpose of seagrave! Young talent in the UK should see us as a pathway to first team football and putting yourself in the shop window. We're just a back up for players that can't make it at Villa. Edited 15 July 2023 by filbertway 5

Unfortunately we need coaches to deliver the path and from what people have said on here we currently don’t have them on board either!

Indeed indeed. The academy has been pretty much totally neglected. I'd like to make the distinction between the kids like 8-16 as it sounds like they're doing a good job. What I'm more concerned about is players 16+. Our pathway to first team football is non existent. The coaches are nowhere near top of the field. The recruitment is laughable. There's absolutely no attention or care paid to the academy. Which is frustrating when we've built ourselves this ridiculously impressive tool in seagrave and the investment into it is miniscule in comparison to the benefits it can yield. 1

I’ve seen a few of our academy teams over the last few years. The u9s are exceptional I thought whereas the u13s I thought were fairly poor as an example off the top of my head.

The coaches in the young age groups are very good. @Kilworthfox can say more on that. Adam Barradell stepped up from U16s to replace Andy Peake in the U18s. I've no real knowledge of his credentials but the U18s for a large chunk of 2021/22 were electric, but since the QF FA Youth Cup exit with the last kick of the game, we seem to have been pretty unimpressive. U21s have been muck for a long while, as harsh as that might sound its been badly run IMO. 1
Lesta2014 Posted 18 July 2023 Posted 18 July 2023 Very little has come out regarding their preseason friendlies. Usually find out from opposition but nothing so far. When does the u21 season start?
