don't have a problem with it if we're sending the kids out there and we're playing a competitive fixture in England the week before the season opener with the first team.

I mean it's quite possible we'll do something like that tbf. Or at very least send a very limited squad.

I'm absolutely not condoning the tour at all, I'm reasonably against both morally and logistically.

I just think getting out of it probably falls under "easier said than done."

But that's still their own incompetence.

We've been in and around the relegation zone all season and the club would surely know when the Championship season starts.

Booking in a pre-season tour for the other side of the world a week before the championship season starts is moronic. Relegation or not.

We might even have a manager in place come the 1st game of the season.

Knowing this board though probably not!

Asia Tour is a King Power ego massage and nothing else.

That’s the only kind of massage I wasn’t offered in Thailand.

Let's face it that's what all of this is. We only haven't minded because of the success of Steve Walsh, Nigel Pearson, Claudio Ranieri and some great people below them.

I think we'll start to give more of a shit about this kind of crap going forward.

Need to play local friendlies. Like the good old days.

I still remember the guy wrenching feeling in my stomach as the team coach arrived at Ilkeston away and I didn't recognise one player to get off.

Only later on did I realise that feeling was also brought on by their balti pies.

I'm not saying it's a particularly good idea, logistically it's a terrible one. I don't like any international tours if I'm honest. I think friendlies should be against competitive local clubs for myriad reasons.

But I can understand why this tour will go ahead and people acting like we should (or even could) just drop it are probably being a bit naive and slightly juvenile.

You have to assume there's significant contractual obligations and we almost certainly can't just walk away at short notice without having to compensate someone.

A bit naive and juvenile? My 6 year old could tell you that this is the worst preparation for the championship. Any money spent to cancel this obligation will be the best spent of the whole summer.

Damn, now try reading the rest of the paragraph. We'll be under contract to take part, it is not going to be straight forward to get out of it, and anyone saying "just don't go" as if breaching the contract is completely repercussionless and won't see any push back at the club is naive

Repercussions as in paying a fee is what I said we should absolutely do,  losing face in Asia who cares.

We won't even have premiership players in our team playing against Liverpool and Tottenham

And still could be searching for a manager

Scary times

It's probably worth a decent amount of money, money that we need.

And to make it worse it would probably COST us money to pull out.

Yes that's what I was thinking.

Agreed, unless we get Middle Eastern owners (at which point omg will the frothing really begin…) we have to accept money comes before sport. Obviously

Maybe we should make it a condition of their sale that any players leaving have to play these friendlies first!

Great, so 2 weeks before we kick off our assault on the Championship some bright spark has enrolled us to play Spurs and Liverpool on the other side of the world. Great way to build confidence going into the new season. What's the saying... 'Start as you mean to go on'.

Surely we either have to send the kids or a 'B' team with the likes of Vestergaard and Ward.
