Hi. Spurs fan here. I watch the Leicester games and have to say Winks just jigs around and watches every game without much involvement.  A complte waste of a team pick, like at Spurs. Just as well start with 10 men.

Hes a fraud of a player. At least Skipp will try every game, a much better player than Winks.

Skipp has been awful at Leicester, more peripheral than Winks and cost 3 times as much. Doesn’t show any more effort and hides from the ball.

Starting to feel the Spurs duo are emblematic of the same brainless thinking that led to us signing half of the Southampton defence we tonked 9-0.

You want players up for a fight, proper battlers, and you go and choose to sign not one but two players from a club with systematic mentality issues. And it's showing. Neither looks bothered.

More quality recruitment from the higher ups, and can't even pin Winks on Cooper - he was an Enzo pick, but even then he was one of the players throwing in questionable performances when the wheels seemed to be coming off from Feb-April last year. Did a job against a lower standard of opposition but has been found out as lacking the drive to lead at PL level.

Every new comedy of errors and chance to analyse the state of our squad just casts my mind back to the Pearson days, and I realise he wouldn't be having the vast majority of this squad anywhere near one he built. We've filled it with Sven-type picks who wouldn't last five minutes if the board had the balls to sanction a clear-out.

Yep - was a red flag in itself. Both from a club where a culture of failure is acceptable. Translates quite well to Aiyawatt's Leicester sadly.

Him and Soumare do not work at all. Id love to to go 352 and cram the midfield to stop teams from easily playing through us like they did at the weekend

And then when Vestegaard hogs the ball and ignores the quick pass to Winks, it renders him completely useless. Shows how much we have missed Ricardo, Ndidi and Fatawu. It’s annoying as when they were fit Cooper wouldn’t play two of them and played Ndidi as ATM.

What is his actual midfield role? He doesn’t seem to do much? Tackle? Assist? Pass? Score?

My original thoughts of him seem to have come to fruition, sadly.

Sad indictment of a footballer, not being able to pin down what he actually contributes to the team.
Of the above I’d say he passes, sideways and backwards.

Passes 5 yards so all the stats say he's got a great passing accuracy, which will then be used against your post!

I remember an interview last season where he mentioned the first thing he does after a match is check his passing stats lol

Winks worked well last year moving the ball from defence to midfield in a system that he had the ball and needed to keep it ticking around.

He worked well last year because the Championship is his level.

You can't rely on him when you're up against it - I said the same last year and was laughed at on here lol. He was massively overrated by our fans on the whole.

Still think he's a good player though, he just needs to be in a team that has the majority of the ball and is setup to play to his strengths.

Oldfield and Gibson were the CM pairing when I starting going down Filbert St.

Skippy loved a step over.

Said this last season and will repeat, he was okay in the championship because we played a system that led to teams sitting in a deep block, meaning we had to adopt a "horse shoe" system of moving the ball across the pitch between the wings to try to create space, Winks was good at this, because it suited his playstyle of only playing passes sideways and backwards, over 75% of his passes last season were sideways or backwards and the vast vast majority were safe, short passes, I'd wager there were 10 or more midfielders in the Championship who could do that, Skipp could do that.
This season, his sideways and backwards passing is very similar statistically (only slightly less) but we no longer dominate the ball, he can't tackle, he can't intercept, he can't make line-breaking passes, he doesn't shoot, doesn't assist and doesn't get stuck in when we are struggling for possession.
He's a luxury player we can't afford to play if we want to stay up. If we can shift him on today we might as well bring in Banzuzi who is far more capable of throwing himself around.

I want to like Winks, but there have been way too many times where he has gone missing in crucial games where we need leadership on the pitch and for someone to grab the team by the scruff of the neck, his behaviour after Cooper got sacked showed a real lack of professionalism.

He’s a neat and tidy player who will look good in a decent side, like we were in the championship. However, in a struggling side with no match winners he really offers nothing. Can’t score, create many chances, win tackles or win headers and isn’t quick.

I'd be tempted to play Facundo in CM alongside Bouba until Wilf is fully sit.
This is a mental stat, but both Bilal and Facundo have played 300 mins less than Winks, Facundo has made 42 tackles, Bilal 29, Winks 24.

He’s a water carrier. Enzo knew this and got the best out of him in Enzos system.

At the moment he’s not want we need in a  relegation dogfight.
