Should have come off at half time.

Monga does look more dangerous and should be trusted more.

I don’t think we should be as concrete as to say mavs no longer starts, but more of a shared role on the right between the two would be a start. I don’t think it would be right to expect monga to play 90 every week at this point.

The worst bit about his 1 on 1 miss was that his flick on to get the ball to Ayew was absolutely phenomenal.

If he'd have scored that goal we'd all be in here lauding him. I suppose they're the fine lines when you're out of form.

Yep - and he didn't stand there admiring it. Such a pity he scuffed the shot - that chance was a real confidence 'six pointer'

Just watched the extended highlights,  at the end he is still beating himself up 🥺

Feeling the pressure with fatawu and mongo outshining him, being replaced by a 16y old has really knocked him.

Get him back up to where we want him , would be Fantastic for our attacking players

His 2024 in the Championship wasn’t great. 5 goals and an assist in 22 games for the champions wasn’t good enough even as the whole team stumbled.

Besides his initial form he’s never really delivered since. I like him but he has to improve or be dropped quite simply.

Probably not a total coincidence we’re s better second half team when Monga is on for Mavadidi.

Didn't realise it was that bad, but does make sense tbh, that was a period where we lost KDH for a while and had a general midfield injury crisis - without any other threats, it was easy to double up on him and Abdul (and this is why the Skippmare/Winks axis is a problem for us still, not one of them can make line breaking runs). He does also have a general problem with just not being the sort who takes the bull by the horns and drags you through a game.

Despite tearing it up last time we were in this league?

2 years ago, for one half of the season (mostly) - I hope he does come good, but he was incredibly poor last season (as were most others) and has shown little so far this season. I'd rather have a solid 7/10 performer most games than a 6/10, with a few 8s here and there. I'll stand by what I said - and I hope I'm wrong, I don't think he's at this level, in terms of very top end (hopefully) championship. We've seen plenty of players of a similar creative but on/off profile come and go. A highlights reel from 2 years ago, only showing the best bits, doesn't convince me.

Yeah got to feel a bit for him because thats a great bit of play and the chance doesn’t come without him. But that doesn’t change the hit on the confidence for missing it.

Annoying we don’t have any easy cup games to pick up a morale boosting big win. But I think he’d massively benefit from coming off the bench for a while. Especially if we get a comfortable lead in a game

I completely forgot about the jeremy monga chant when Stephy was playing until mentioned on BSLB. Thought it was disgraceful tbh, some of our fans never cease to amaze me

Yup. Borderline jeering when players are going off/coming on won't help anyone at all! Stephy was clearly distraught at FT, he is a human being and knows he F'd up. We move on!

As well as his poor miss and his overall poor performances from an attacking viewpoint, he's also not great defensively and often leaves Thomas exposed. The commentators against Cov pointed out a few times where he switched off and lost his runner. Whilst we'd always want Fatawu and Mavididi to focus on their attacking game, they do still have defensive duties to fulfill, especially as our centre midfielders are as mobile as a milk float. I'd be tempted to play Hamza alongside Winks as he could cover more ground defensively than Soumare and Skipp which could mean Mavi and Fats can focus more at the top end of the field.

Think we need to chalk up a new song for him or at least rewrite it. Everyone stopped singing it once Enzo left, which is a shame cos Stephy was on record as loving it. Fella probably thinks we've stopped singing for him because we don't like him or something. :dunno:

You're probably right but I have no doubt in my mind if he rattled one in this season we'd hear people singing it again!

Truee... I could say the same about Winks, whose song has also disappeared almost entirely since Enzo left. But then it's probably no coincidence that his levels also dropped once Schteve came in and are only now starting to recover after a rather silly year on his part.

HAS to turn up tonight.

I can handle him missing chances but I wanna see him Making runs beyond Ayew, taking on his man and giving LT a chance when he passes to him.

I reckon it won’t be long until Ayew starts dropping that deep that Jakub can make runs beyond him

Glad he starts, he was brighter vs Cov despite the miss and looked gutted at the end of the game.

He still annoys me taking too many touches at times, then (like last weeks chance) sometimes snatches at it when he has the time to take the touches, but there is no doubt he has ability.

Needs confidence, and our fans aren’t helping.

Couldn’t agree more.

Wingers are streaky by nature but Stephy is bordering onto Gray territory of one good game every 10 or so games and with Monga waiting in the wings, inexcusable to keep starting him.

Awful player that looked great with one short inform spell. We took him on as a journeyman, and now we know why.

Lack of brain is very Schlupp.
