Sorry what have I missed? Did he get played as a striker for Ireland or are people just mentioning his finishing ability??

I think he was wide but he scored

for a lot of fans, if a centre half scores then he’s now a striker !

While I think he has his shortcomings even as winger (lack of pace to beat his man or 'skill') it's quite obvious that's his best position. We could do better to get an actual striker...

I think he could be that awkward striker/ winger with the traits he has but only being played with another striker.

it’s one thing us saying it, it’s another the manager actually having the same vision

We've seen enough of him to know he's not the answer, a goal against a crap Ipswich side and Senegal doesn't change that. If he starts for us next season we're in trouble, fine as a squad player but £5m is of more use to us in our position.

Alves is 3 year younger and looks better technically to me. He should be the third choice winger after Fatawu and Mavididi.

Infuriating to watch when you have wingers like Fatawu to compare to.

There's just nothing about him. Perhaps pace?

No skill, no trickery, no flair. He's just there to give it a go, if that.

Not exactly a player to get you up and off your seat in excitement.

Someone at the weekend said it’s a massive season for him to actually make a name for himself. Such a valid point. He’s destined for life in the third tier as it stands.

Should've snapped Sunderlands whole arm off with whatever they had offered

Should have sold him when we were offered money.

Mental that we turned that down even if it just was an option.

Said in the match thread that he's absolutely crap yet he'll probably still somehow bag 10 goals this season.

I think hes a few more performances like that away from ending up as a league one/two journeyman.

I appreciate hes one of the few who does care, and you can never fault the effort, but technically hes absolutely dreadful.

We can’t criticise him because he’s from the academy and we are not allowed to do that

Such a weird stance. Half this forum is shocking at giving young players a chance and actually seems to enjoy them doing badly, which then causes the other half to defend them.

In Kasey's case, he jumped up a couple of levels after a pretty poor loan in League 2 and has somehow leapfrogged other players who are better than him. Nice lad but just doesn't the the quality needed
