Have City's (or Tigers') socials put up a post congratulating county? I haven't seen one. 

 

They really need to. The three clubs, particularly county and city, are family (or should be)

The support for the county was super, especially from all the City fans in the aptly named Fox Road stand. The chanting was pretty incessant and the roars accompanying the wonderful catches and spectacular run out were like those celebrating goals. Cheering every dot ball towards the end really put pressure on Hampshire. We all loved the chant "Harry Swindells he's one of our own" after his man of the match performance. Fantastic day!

The wicket celebrations were wilder than most goal celebrations at City these days.

Just had a quick gander at Tigers. Nothing from what I could see. Hope I just missed it rather than it being ignored. 

 

Wouldn't surprise me though. The underdog spirit between city and county is a stronger bond. Plus the Aylestone / Saff / Belvoir drive connection. Much more a City area than Tigers.

Fantastic day out yesterday . Atmosphere better than a lot of LCFC matches these days. A day I will never forget . Pity more didn't make the short trip to notts to see our team in a cup final. I don't think the County really promoted this as much as they could to gain extra support and interest.

I think they did all they could to be honest, but they’ve had almost no help. Heck the ECB are doing their hardest to destroy and hide the competition whose final has traditionally been a showpiece at Lord’s. It’s like the FA moving the FA Cup final to Villa Park and prioritising a new competition they set up with teams they’ve just made up based on crisp flavours. 

 

BBC and Sky have been under instruction to only talk and showcase The Hundred. Sky have the rights to the One Day cup but only showed one game (the final) on their cricket channel. The BBC didn’t do national radio coverage of the final it was only local and online.

 

Locally I’m  really thankful for Radio Leicester because as far as I can see, the Leicester Merc haven’t even done a single story on their cricket side winning a trophy. Did East Midlands Today do much?

 

That leaves the county promoting it on social media and the problem with that is you’re pleading to the already converted. Fair play to @worth_the_wait for setting this thread up.

The Mercury are an absolute disgrace. I couldn’t find anything about County actually reaching the final or winning it. There would appear to be nobody at the paper who can report on cricket. Absolutely disgraceful non support for one of our unsung teams. Well done County. I thought we were all going home by just after lunch, but great play in particular by Swindells, Evans and young Josh Hull.

Not to mention they had all of bank holiday weekend to put the semi on and put it on the Tuesday. Not only is it destroying this format and competition, but also costing a small county like Leicestershire a lot of money.

 

The Hundred has absolutely zero appeal to me and even if it did we have been given no team to support with them effectively giving Nottingham their own team for the whole of this area. Like Trent Bridge needs more money at the expense of Leicestershire and Derbyshire. 

 

I could rant a lot more about how much cricket has done to needlessly destroy itself as a sport. So much more could have been gained from the momentum of the 2005 Ashes but Sky's money meant more to them than anything else.

Totally agree. There just aren't enough negative adjectives to describe the ECB.

 

They caused the downturn in the sport by the whoring out of the game to sky. (Rugby never did, filled the vacuum and became the UK's second sport) ....then have tried to remedy the gaff of losing a generation of supporters by inventing a game that actively excludes a good half  of the nation and then deliberately belittles the 50% that feel excluded. On a business level alone, it's quite staggering. 

 

Just as an example yesterday, every club cricket team of the competing counties should've had games moved 24 hours and tix for the final, free for club members. Every school with links to cricket development in the competing counties should've had tix for free. But they don't want it. They want to protect their own business decisions. It's egotism versus pragmatism and the likes of  repulsive yes men such as  Agnew and Vaughan should be called out

It’s ridiculous how they’ve belittled it. Any county has just 3 trophies to play for each season and penniless underdogs Leicestershire upset the apple cart and win one of them!  Tremendous achievement! Glad I was there to see it.

I'm no way a cricket fanatic.  I live well outside the County, and can only get to a few games a year.  But I just really feel for them, struggling along as an "unfashionable" club.   

 

If we all just do a little bit, go down a couple of times a year, take a friend, tell someone about it ... then hopefully we can slowly build the club back up again in the public's consciousness.

Sky Cricket’s Twitter account posted the toss and then nothing from the rest of the match.

The Leicester Mercury’s priorities have always been advertising, and to fill the odd space here and there

they throw on a few comments on the local sports. Since the demise of the Buff, sport at the Mercury has

always, and will always be way down the pecking order. They are just interested in selling advertising space.

I kicked them into touch over 30 years ago.

After they ditched the Buff they went downhill faster than Franz Klammer.
