Apologies. It was the season after with Cambiasso more so wasn’t it?

Yeah, Drinkwater started the first game against Everton but went off injured and was out for a while though.

James played 29 games that season and started 20

Drinkwater played 24 games and started 16

James was a solid Championship player for us, but he’s been consistently overrated since his Premier League career was prematurely ended through injury. “Keeping Drinkwater out of the team” is the standard justification by some of our fanbase for talking him up to be better than he actually was. It’s a statement of fact to some extent, but his impact in 14/15 has been consistently talked up to be more than it ever was.

He was one of our best players in the only season he played with any regularity for us in the Prem. Always seemed like a really nice intillegent lad as well. Why talk him down?

Well we only won 11 games that season so for the most part it wasn’t a high bar. I’m guessing that James probably started 5 or 6 of those wins.

The best midfield partnership that season was Cambiasso and anyone but, if Drinkwater had any form at all, James wouldn’t have been anywhere near that side.

Good player, good signing, nice chap etc. but he’s also become one of our most overrated players in our history. It happens sometimes like that. Matt Jones came before and Dennis Praet came later

Absolute rubbish, he had years of being very good for us in the Championship and then was great in the Prem for us until his injury, utterly ridiculous comparisons.

To be honest I can’t be arsed to argue about it. He was a good Championship pro and an important player for us at that level. He’s also been hugely overrated since.

I’ll leave it there. You’re fully entitled to any view to the contrary

I wish one day the likes of Kasper and King can come back as club ambassadors alongside Vardy, Morgan and Albrighton.

As Pearson said above, it is the value and the culture that will be the backbone for success.

This is the reason why it was the right thing for the club to keep Vardy and Albrighton, whether or not they play sh*t, to keep what is more important that has been developed since the Pearson days - the culture, the “we”, the foxes never say die attitude. Some fans here were too quick to kill all of that and ask for a complete turnover. But even managers come and go as we all know. Enzo included. But we created something very special leading to the 5000-1 league win. This is invaluable that we must keep. Please remember.

And for those who are less sentimental, it is not about that. It is also about building success based on values. Apart from the training ground, I reckon the likes of Winks and Coady were willing to join us in the Championship because of our reputation (from winning the league and being a top side not long ago). So it really matters that we can keep traces of that (eg. Vardy) in the team for as long as possible. We want new players to come in feeling a sense of pride to be here, part of a family that want to take the club to another miracle. Let’s all face it, many deep down want to be a superhero one day. Leicester, I hope, gives the likes of Winks, Coady, Mavididi etc a sense of belief that one day they may be able to take Leicester back up to the EPL and achieve great things, because we have done it all here before and we can have Vardy and Albrighton to talk about all that.

Further to the above, Pearson again talks about the importance of Vardy and his winning mentality. Values and culture is what makes the difference. Please see below.

I wish fans can stop questioning why Vardy and Albrighton are still at the club and being so keen on seeing the backs of the likes of Kasper. We need them.

James contributed to our Championship title much more than king if we really want to down that route…

That was for one season, Kingy gave 10+ if we really want to go down that route.

Imagine arguing about who made the biggest impact out of James King and Drinkwater and getting in a tizz about it.

I waited for him after the game and due to his bad back he took his shoes off before coming over and said “I only wore these for you lot lol“ what a bloke.

Seriously?
