I have read comments on several threads about contracts ending in 2024. There are 15 according to the FT players page.

Loans     Doyle Casadei  Akgun  Fatawu

Permanant         Albrighton  Vardy  Smithies  Iheanacho  Choudhury  Vestergarrd  Ndidi  Praet  Thomas  Nelson

                             Marcal-Madivadua

Depending on what division we are in how many deserve a new contract ?

of our own players, I'd want to retain Ndidi only from that list if we are promoted, perhaps Nelson

I'd let them all go to be honest, with the exception of Vardy if he wants to stay but has to be on massively reduced terms.

Harsh on Ndidi but if we get promoted we are probably going to need better. I'm ready to see the back of Iheanacho tbh.

I'd like it if we extended both Iheanacho and Ndidi, then took up the options on Fatawu and Yunus.

The rest can leave.

Doyle? Casadei only young, hard to make a call on him just yet.

Vardy should stay until he retires, too :)

I think it’s early day on the loans I think we need to give it more time. Fatawu and Doyle look likely but the other two have also showed promise.

of the permanent guys a lot will depend how we are doing by Christmas. If we let them all go then we will have a lot of purchases to do should we get promotion and pay a premium. At the moment ndidi looks like the most likely given form. I’d like to keep Thomas Marcal and Nelson but the club will be watching more closely.

I love Vardy. One of my favourate of all times. Let’s see how he gets on again. Sooner or later he needs to move on to his next chapter. Similar thoughts apply to Marc. Kel Praet and Choudary’ even vesty could all do a job in some way and a lot will come down to negotiations. We can’t let all the work done on fixing the wage bill. I reckon at least half of them will be gone though so we will have another summer of incomings and outgoings.

We banked a lot of the money from transfers this summer. Obviously we've got a lot of losses to cover with the relegation but I imagine there's a not insignificant pot there to deal with contract extensions.

The manager is clearly going to want to keep Vestergaard and Ndidi as a minimum, think the club would happily extend Iheanacho even if only to make sure we get money if/when he leaves, honestly wouldn't surprise me entirely if Choudhury ends up with a new contract too.

Akgun and Fatawu have asterisks next to them, we've got obligations on both. I can see us buying Doyle if we go up, or at very least getting a second loan.

(Without jinxing anything) ...it looks like we might be going up. I can't remember the specifics on the Akgun and Fatawu loans, but don't we HAVE to sign them if we get promoted?

Honestly think we need to move on from the players out of contract as well. A lot of them have been here a while

I'm sure Man City will ask the earth for Doyle and isn't Casadei very highly rated by Chelsea? Not sure those two will be joining. Next Summer will require a lot of work regardless of whether we get promoted or not I think.

Loans:

Doyle - try to sign

Casadei - underwhelming so far but if he comes good, maybe another loan

Akgun - decision in summer whether to activate permanently

Fatawu - same as above but more likely so far

Albrighton - time to thank him for 10 years service and part ways

Vardy - decision later. He’s looking bright again. Could keep him if wages are reasonable?

Smithies - can go

Iheanacho - will probably go. Not been great this season but would love him to come good and if so, could offer him a renewal

Choudhury - looked bright but probably his level. Let him go and hopefully find a good club at this level

Vestergaard - he has been good this season but I would let him go as we need better in the Prem

Ndidi - looking a new player. Try to keep

Praet - let him go

Thomas - still won’t be part of Enzo’s plans to let him go

Nelson - probably worth keeping

Wanya Marcal - keep on a new contract

Fatawu and Yunus we are obligated to sign if we go up and they both each make something like 25 appearances - I think there is a very very good chance Fatawu manages that, not sure if Yunus will - in which case I don’t think we would buy him - but still a very long season

Doyle I would loan him again or buy him which I think we could definitely do next summer if we wanted to, Casadei lets see how he does when he starts a few more games, again I think we could get him on loan again if we wanted

Thomas’s contract doesn’t end next summer according to his relative on here, which makes sense as we wouldn’t have just loaned him out if it did end then

New contracts for Ndidi, Nelson, and Wanya Marcal

Even if Vestergaard carries on this kind of form for the whole season I would still let him go

Smithies, Albrighton, Praet, Choudhury, Iheanacho can all leave

Honestly not a clue about Vardy, just one of those players I never want us to let go haha, try and keep him around as a player coach but I don’t think he will want to go that kind of route

Were we to go back up I actually think Ndidi would be really useful in one of the 8 positions against stronger opponents. As he is doing now, would allow us to press really high and create chances on turnovers.

Also believe he’s happy here (laughing at transfer rumours linking him away) so could see him signing an extension, especially if he continues in his current vein of form.

I would always look to keep Vardy even if he only plays the last 20 minutes of matches next season.

His experience will benefit any young strikers we have and his attitude is bang on.

It's important to keep players like him around.

Don't think we have a option on either, and I doubt we will have the funds for these two

We don't, but can always get them back on loan again.

If we get promoted then I think we'd make signing Doyle permanently a priority. Somewhere between £15-20m would probably be enough.

It has to work from a wages perspective though. Doing so takes a squad place up and wages that could be used for another player or 2. I just don't see the odd 20 minutes being value for money on the wages he will demand.  I feel this season will likely be it, but if we get promoted it would be the most wonderful end.

Do we not feel there are options to sell Nacho and Vestergaard in January?  The situation with Vesty is very different now and in January there could be several Prem teams with Injuries who would be willing to take this on. The salary will be a sticking point but a lower fee may help compensate, but i think he might now be seen as a solid signing where as before it would likely have been a punt.  I think any club in the bottom 6 of the PL would take a punt on Nacho if they were desperate for Survival. Appreciate Afcon gets in the way.

Agree about a new contract for Ndidi, and part of me things he will do it.

With Vestergaard it probably depends on how much we would get offered for him, can we get a replacement in for what I expect would probably be a low offer when he has just 6 months left - one of those where it might be best to just keep him especially if he keeps up this form

With Iheanacho if he doesn’t improve between now and January then I think we probably should be looking to get a fee for him, he really hasn’t impressed me so far and if he doesn’t improve quickly then I think Daka and when he is fit again Cannon should be getting chances ahead of him

Can't see Doyle staying here. Either Man City start using him or he goes to a PL team (even if we do go up).

Not sure on the logic here? If we go up we are such an obvious choice for him. What level of club do you see him going to in the PL?

I just think he will be either a permanent Man City player or play for one of the bigger clubs. Not sure if Man City would sell him next year, I think they will want to bed him in and keep. It all depends what Man City want rather than the player himself.

Believe these have obligations should they play a certain amount of games.

No matter how well he does this season there is no way we can sign Vardy back up on his current terms, will need to drop significantly which would also allow us to invest elsewhere.

Out of our current permanent players I would also keep Ndidi, Nelson and Marcal.

Fair enough. Obviously you never know the truth but rumours were Man City were happy to sell to us rather than loan. I can’t see him making their side, they prefer to use their academy products to sell and offset their large purchases such as that Croatian centre half.

And he could probably have got a premier league move (not a ‘big’ club) off the back of his performances for Coventry but preferred to go again in the Championship so seems to have his head screwed on about his progression. Plus the Maresca factor.

Id imagine he’d definitely be one for us but they will probably be licking their lips at bumping up the price if he does well this season!
