FosseSpark Posted 12 February 2024 Posted 12 February 2024 I understand FFP (well, sort of, i think) and so fully expect it's not all going to be world beaters. But i've always thought there's something suss about Barkley's temperament and ability to regularly get the best out of himself which is why he's ended up swimming about the loan and promo'd clubs end of the market. Not sure he's had a fair crack of the whip in his career and so he could well be just the sort of person (Like Albrighton) who flourishes at Leicester despite not elswhere. personally though, i'd love it if i saw us being a little more creative than Barkley who feels like a bargain end of the market. even though we've been relegated, i think our long term curve should still mean we see ourselves as a top 12, top 10 premier league team who had 1 **** up of a season. The story (potentially) of being the highest points scorers in football league history, should be one that's easy to sell to a few next big things...... 1 hour ago, Ric Flair said: We are going to need 10+ new players this summer. Ndidi is likely going unless we've learnt absolutely nothing in regard to our wage structure, Barkley going to Luton shows he's not about the money but wants to play. We are going to need to utilise the free transfer market massively.

fox_up_north Posted 12 February 2024 Posted 12 February 2024 In theory, we shouldn't actually need to change too much. Other than Kasper, Madders and Youri, the squad is very similar to the pre-relegation team and they did well. I don't think we need to spend loads, really. Certainly not to survive. To crack top 12 then maybe so but I am happy to go back up, take a solid return and forget this year
Lambert09 Posted 12 February 2024 Posted 12 February 2024 i would personally still be interested in archer. If we lose vardy and iheanacho i’m confident enough in daka and a project with cannon but we’d need one more and the fact archer offers an option on the left makes him a great fit. He is better than his performances for sheffield have been and simply his confidence hasn’t taken the relegation fight too well. But there is a player in there

Considering our amortisation will be somewhere around 30m, compared to an all-time high of 75m. You could see us give a new contract to Mavididi, Winks and Mads at some point to bring it down a little more. Really, the issue is keeping control of our wages, ideally keeping around 55-65% of turnover at worst. I can see us using the loan market again, with the like of Doyle to kick a purchase another year down the road. I would be surprised to see us loan a couple from City. LVFox Posted 12 February 2024 Posted 12 February 2024 Daichi Kamada available on a free at end of season, would really suit being one of our 8s. A few decent squad options too, Lloyd Kelly, Josh DaSilva, Mady Camara.

I'm a huge fan of his compatriot at Stuttgart, Hiroki Ito who could play the Justin/Doyle role really well for us. Fede Redondo as a young DM is also one we should have an eye on. Argentina U23 midfielder who's contract runs out in December. 1

Has just signed for Inter Miami by looks of it, I imagine hugely for the Messi pull, but the €8m price would of been perfect for us. Back to the drawing board for a Winks backup 1

I'd make Oscar Zambrano a priority, whoever signs him will make a huge profit quickly on him.
lcfc sheff Posted 13 February 2024 Posted 13 February 2024 Minus any unexpected sales and coupled with the expected loses of ndidi, vestergaard and iheanacho. -we need two centrebacks (CB + LCB) -back up to winks (preferably a taller option in a mould not obviously equal but similar to Rodri) - two no.8s presuming we don’t sign / resign ndidi and Yunus - another winger unless Mcateer is deemed sufficient as back up to both Fatawu and Mavididi - perhaps a striker unless we resign Vardy as the third choice so potentially 7 signings.

Signing someone who is fluid in the front line would prevent the need to sign both a Striker AND a winger imo. Having 4 strikers at the minute is a mess, can't possibly please them all when we only play 1 up top and ideally you want someone cemented in that position in the prem. We know Nacho will go, Vardy maybe sign a 1 year deal but its down to him, and you can't be certain Daka won't have his suitors come the summer again. I agree with the rest though! Definitely need an 8 or two with the way we play, I have my reservations on Yannik in the PL so a CB or two as well if Souttar goes, and someone younger to protect Winks if he gets injured. 1

Good in possession and has some bite out of possession, currently has a 67% success rate for defensive duels, solid! 1

wardyfox86 Posted 14 February 2024 Posted 14 February 2024 Attainable options might be: Largie Ramazani (Almeria) RW/LW Lucas Robertone (Almeria) CDM Fran Beltran (Celta Vigo) CM Nahitan Nandez (Cagliari) IWB Kamil Piatowski (RBS) CB Eric Martel (Cologne) CDM Assan Ouedraogo (kid looks great at 17 and Schalke are deep in the brown) would be great investment in that advanced 8 position. All would work in our current system and at least boost our squad options.
ithuriel Posted 14 February 2024 Posted 14 February 2024 Basically, if we could afford it, new left back, two new centre halves would be a priority for me
