We ground that out. We weren't great and made Sunderland look a lot better than they actually are, but credit them for having a go. These are the hallmarks of champions, grinding out results.

First team that really tried to attack us at home. Fair play.

Never really felt threatened. I’m not sure who the MOTM was, but Casadei is certainly in with a shout.

MOTM they gave it to Patterson who really was quite obviously the best player on the pitch tonight. KDH for me was our most consistent over the 90 minutes, wasn't particularly impressed by Casadei. This is the player that's supposed to be a level above didn't really stand out for me.

Just keep grinding out those results. Great job by all involved tonight.  Cassadei a little unlucky but he impacted the match. Justin's goal was sublime watching the replay.

Enjoyed that game it was interesting all the way through.

They are by far the best team we've played this season

Blimey, that's Sunderland's third loss on the bounce? How??

Because they can’t score enough

(not rocket science)

Big respect to Sunderland and Tony Mowbray. For all the Mackems that visit our board... respect! You should feel proud of your team. Really good play from your boys.

I love being magnanimous in victory

Alright smarty pants 😂.

If they had a striker, they'd be well up there.

Wasn't overly impressed watching that to be honest.  Looked a bit ragged when up against a team that really had a go.  Which is weird because I thought any team that did that we would walk through.  Missed Ndidi no question.

I still don't like this pissing around at the back though.  I get it for the sake of slowing play, waiting for the right opportunities, but sometimes we are overplaying it and getting in to trouble. We have to learn when to do it and when to clear it and reset if we are under the cosh a bit.

Yea we could have had a couple more goals tonight but if Sunderland had any strikers that had scored this season, it could have been a different story.

I think that it was the playing it long that got us in more trouble than the playing from the back.

Their game plan was effective and nullified our plan A, and yet we had the better opportunities to score and could have bagged 3-4 easily. They turned it into a slugging match and fair play to them - they could have got something - but hey ho they didn’t. One of those, but happy to take the points move on.

So it’s a fair comment if people say teams have previously shown us too much respect. It’s almost like people have prepared for defeat/ a draw before kick off. Sunderland didn’t  and I massively respect them for it. More difficult for us than the Hull game. A win tastes better when we have had to work for it.

2 chances in 2 minutes, he's struck the ball like somebody hoping to score rather than believing he will, both very good chances, keeper was good, but both shots have gave the keeper a chance much like Nachos effort.

Don’t know what to make of that. They came and pressed well, created some half decent chances.

We kept giving the ball away but could’ve scored another 3.

All in all, we ground it out, and when you don’t play well - you have to grind it out sometimes.

Why are you like this? 😂

Because people are writing illogically. Just like last season. 😂

The top six sides will be those with good strikers in them. Or just good attacking goal scorers.

We’ll romp it. We’ve got goals from all over the place. Leeds will be second. Then perm 4 from quite a few teams where they have at least one good striker.

We had 5-6 clear cut chances, I don't see how we didn't play well. The finishing was horrible at times though.
