Si Jiahui vs Ben Mertens is qualifying drama at it’s best, just gone into a decider.

And Si somehow survives.

Now plays fellow Chinese talent Wu Yize for a place at the Crucible.

Good win for Jak Jones.

Few close games .

Remember Mark King and Dominic Dale playing when I was a kid almost !

Like Si vs Mertens last night, more evidence on how matches can flip on a few shots.

That missed mid range pink to go 9-7 is gonna haunt Heathcote tonight.

Enjoying this final qualifying session, can see some of these going to decides.

Si Jiahui looked impressive, was 4 nil down and won 10-4.

Also, it's good to see some of the tables well attended, looks like they are 5 or 6 rows deep.

Doesn't feel like that many years ago when it was a row of conference room chairs behind each table for the qualifiers.

Been a great appetiser for The Crucible tonight.

Will feel strange Robertson not being there, but fair play to Jamie Jones, a tenacious performance tonight, something which we’ve seen from him in the past.

I’m very much a casual snooker fan & do play a bit here and there but don’t know much about the players outside the top ones.

Is there any young new names coming through? I’ve heard of Stan Moody but no idea what his level is.

In terms of UK prospects, Stan Moody, Liam Pullen & Liam Davies are the three to look out for. Moody & Pullen have just had their debut seasons, they still feature lower down in the rankings, but both have had the occasional good win this season. Liam Davies recently won his tour card, so he’ll be new to the tour next season.

Elsewhere the rest of the young talents are appearing from China, you’ve got a cluster of them in the teens - early twenties bracket 👍🏻

Ah yes Pullen I’d heard of him. I’ve gotten back into snooker recently. Watch pretty much every tournament since the UK championship.

Looking forward to the World Championship.
