That's a positive swing on the P & L by around 70m before you factoring in selling Maddison, Barnes for a combined total of 90m.

 

 

I shared this same view point about 2022 because of what we did with Fofana. Comforted that if we were that close to FFP we'd have had to sell him earlier but the sale of Maddison just before the end of June to balance the books made me consider differently.

 

If the requirement to sell now because we're in the shit is only just been discovered then that's one thing, however stupid it is but if they knew we'd over spent in the summer and this was always going to have to be the end game then that's scandalous.

Not saying its definitely wrong there could well be something in it not doubting Brighton are interested by just not convinced that we would sell

Just looked at Brightons forum and basically they think 30m is cheap and they all want him there. I had to stop reading it as we've become the butt of jokes amongst the posters........

It's sad that now we considering selling are future talents to a team that size of Brighton

As cosbeh said the other week were in deep financial shit and need to sell in the summer regardless so maybe makes it better sense to sell now then leave it to a narrow 4 week window in June.

What’s narrower than a 4 week window in June? 
 

A 5 day window in January in which to completely rebuild the central midfield of a previously title challenging midfield (mid season), and if you get it wrong you could **** the entire club for a decade or more.

I think we would have had more of a fire sale of the likes of Nacho, Ndidi and Daka.

 

I also don't see us paying Winks and Coady the wages they would have want to get them here if we were that close.

Not sure on the date of that article but United 100% wanted Maddison. At least, Ole and his team were pushing hard.  Glazers refused and they ultimately got Sancho.

I think what's the even bigger worry than him going is that this just points to us being in far bigger shit than we actually thought financially.

 

Just remember those who put us here are under minimal scrutiny. It stinks.

Would still be in this years accounts if we sold him this summer as long as it is before the end of June like we did with Maddison (and Forest didn't do with Johnson)

 

The season finishes on 4th May, we would have nearly 2 months post-season to get a deal sorted if we needed to

You miss the point. It won’t be done for football reasons. And look at how Mardy KDH has been lately. If his head has been turned we even lose a strong negotiating position.

There's nothing to suggest that we need money so badly we'd be prepared to jeopardise the cash cow of the premier league.

 

There seems to be some arcane knowledge amongst posters on FT of the exact financial status of the club.
