I could be completely wrong here but I never get the impression with KDH that he likes the fans. He got a lot of criticism last season like everyone did and apparently he didn’t like it same with Thomas.

There's nothing to suggest that we need money so badly we'd be prepared to jeopardise the cash cow of the premier league.

There seems to be some arcane knowledge amongst posters on FT of the exact financial status of the club.

Absolutely no one on here knows the financial situation of the club.

You miss the point. It won’t be done for football reasons. And look at how Mardy KDH has been lately. If his head has been turned we even lose a strong negotiating position.

Has he even been that mardy though?

I also doubt his head will have been turned enough to be pushing for a move this month a hurt the club that he has said multiple times he supports and loves.

The summer once we are promoted or stuck in the championship is another matter entirely

It might still be a hangover from the Brendan era but I struggle to care who leaves nowadays. Will be gutted when Vardy goes but only because of what he's done here

I also don't see this mardyness that people keep saying I think he has looked up for it and giving 100 % in every game he's played

Other then that being in 2019?

As close to being right as it is wrong.....

Just saying he not always gospel.

But he never said in either of those that the said club was going to sign  anyone?

the second one was even worse… someone  jumped to that conclusion just be him saying Arsenal we’re getting confident a deal could be done.

bad examples, I’m afraid..

When we started spending we had Barnes, Castagne on the books and had just got rid of Madders. I am pretty sure they also thought we would sell Daka (so did i to be fair) and likely Soumare. But there were potential sales pretty highly guranteed.

But now, we have run out of options. KDH is the last of the regarded players.

But we haven't spent all the money from the sales we made, even if they hoped to sell daka and soumare there's nothing to suggest we now have to cash in on KDH to cover the costs of the summer's purchases (or whatever other debt we allegedly have)?

Even if this was the case, there's still no need to sell him now - firstly we'd make more on him if we get promoted and secondly a sale at the end of the season would go on the same year of accounts as selling him now - there is not one molecule of sense in selling him now.

I think we would have had more of a fire sale of the likes of Nacho, Ndidi and Daka.

I also don't see us paying Winks and Coady the wages they would have want to get them here if we were that close.

But as you well know, the fire sales would need to actually make us money. For Daka last summer, even £15m and we'd have been worse off than keeping him due to what's left on his book value.

I think we'd have actively sold Iheanacho and Ndidi if anyone offered us a decent fee, but again none were forthcoming. The 2021/22 accpunt year (last set of accounts) was the final year of Iheanacho's £25m transfer fee, so that would have been offset.

I thought it was odd he didn't warm up against Huddersfield and he looked miserable as f**k after the Millwall game. His interview after the Cov game, although he's a fan, felt strange to me. Since huddersfield though, i felt something was up which is when i posted that i wondered if something like this would happen.

All hearsay nonsense. Im just reading too much into it. He's always looked a bit miserable.

Maresca has done a sterling job of managing the players, and he has improved KDH. But that doesn't this from happening, when it seems likely its just got to happen.

We have been screwed by FFP. It screwed us to relegation and this is the first major bump in the road since that. I thought everything ran a little too smoothly after we were relegated.

Again, literally nothing to back up this statement.

There's plenty that suggests we need to sell including our manager saying it.

For example?

We dont get to spend all the money on the sales we made. They are used to cover the horrific operating losses we have, which were made far worse by ending up in the hellhole that's the Championship.

A lot of commotion for something that won’t happen. Be silly to happen, even for us

We're all about silly though

Not sacking Rodgers, selling Kasper, playing Ward for nearly 30 games, putting two useless caretakers in charge for two vital games, almost hiring Jesse Marsch, industrial levels of crap signings

I'm not no. I'm basing it on what someone said on here and then what I've been told subsequently.

Oh and also the manager admitting as much....

Oh, so i assume the subsequent information came from Susan Whelan, otherwise it's still just some bloke on the internet.

The manager has suggested that we need to sell before we buy - this may or may not be true, he's hardly going to say 'oh we can spend what we like' - and even if it is true he did not say for what reason we had to sell, he certainly didn't allude to us being 'in deep financial shit'.

He was visibly pissed off with the Ipswich sub, muttering under his breath.

The thing that really worries me about this is the fact it's Brighton specifically. Forget all the horse shit about this being wrong - Ornstein is the best in the business. Better than Romano who this forum seems to hinge on.

Brighton's entire modus operandi is about well calculated decisions. They aren't some impulsive clowns like Forest or Everton who just bid for everyone. Brighton will have done this knowing that we're in a weak position - well I didn't realise it was quite this weak.

I could entertain it if I could rely on us to have a proper contingency plan in place - but give me strength. We still haven't even got Sensi in.
