I'm sure there will be a gentleman's agreement amongst the big 6 that sees their academy players move between them like Palmer to Chelsea.

Not sure about that but I will have my eyes on whether we see a Southampton player sold to Man City (or one of their overseas clubs) over the next few windows at what looks to be quite an inflated price

There was some stuff on social media about a swap deal with kdh and nketiah.  lots of comments about how this makes no sense because we need money pre June 30

it occurs to me that we value kdh at 40m but no one will pay that given our situation.  Arsenal value nketiah at 40m but again, no one is paying that for him.

so here’s a thought …. We sell kdh to arsenal in June for 40m

we buy nketiah in July for 40m

positive in our ledger to June 30  of 40m

For 24/25 onwards we have negative 8m each season on nketiah.  He isn’t worth it but the consequences for our psr position is excellent.

the reality is that we will be v lucky to get 30m for kdh in June. arsenal similar with nketiah.  The above shows how we can manipulate the situation to our advantage,

Bit like Winks and Maddison....!

Perfect illustration of how sh1te we are

we could easily have sold madders for 50m and paid 20m for winks which sticks another 10m in the positive column for a period we knew we would fail.  Do you think we inflated 5m on the deals we did?

Think you're totally missing the point that KDH, as an academy product, is potentially our most saleable and profit worthy asset in order to raise revenue to attempt to balance the FFP books. You don't do that by swapping players. In fact if we did go up and face a points deduction, such a stunt would only serve to attract a bigger punishment!

We aren’t swapping players in my suggestion

I think Nelson needs a proper home where he can be trusted to make mistakes and thrive. Nketiah is a good finisher and could be a long-term competition with Cannon. I'd take both for sure.

Smith-Rowe I'm torn on. Looked really decent a couple of seasons ago but would he fit Enzo's system? Does he have the required engine as an 8 or can he be moved further back as a Winks alternative?

They are all on £120K per week. Can't see them wanting to come here, plus I don't really want them personally.

Smith-Rowe is a trap signing as its all about his reputation.  Hes played about 300 minutes of football this season and everytime i have seen him he looked massively unfit. Somewhere is going to take him, massively overpay on the wages, get an ok player for a short while before turns into a donkey.

It looks like they are wanting to complete Deals before the end of June, in which case if we purchased them it would count towards this seasons budget... which will be a no then as we are already looking to offload before june to meet requirements for this year.

Besides, Nketia will cost 30m himself, id imagine Smith Rowe is not too far behind  and Nelson too.  Its very unlikely we will be spending 30m on a single player this off season and certainly not 2-3 of similar value..

Smith-rowe injured a lot last season... giving an injury prone player 120k per week... what could possibly go wrong?!?

We know we are going to get fcked by the efl next time we go down, so I say we sign a load of players before June, whilst we are still a championship club and then it won't affect our budget for next season as a premier league club. Give ourselves the best chance of surviving so we don't have to worry about any championship points deductions.

I'm just happy to be in a race to sign someone, I'd have preferred a battle but given our parlous financial situation I'll take whatever's on offer
