Albrighton perhaps best option but not in the squad. Don't have the greatest headers of the ball either. Leicester don't seem to have any training routines for corners like the one Norwich caught us with. It all seems very predictable possession but little end product.

Albrighton for me, or Ricardo can put in a decent cross.

Vardy defensively on corners is great on that near post, he reads flight of ball better than most.

Why isn't that a set piece, a basic vardy near post flick on?

Blackburn away, Faes, the last time we scored from a set piece header? I was thinking the same. I want to see my crosses to challenge the opposition but who are we aiming for? A midget Daka half the time!

Do feel a little bit for Vestergaard and Faes with the corners as the delivery doesn’t really give them a chance. It’s always the same pattern, don’t beat the first man with the first, then over compensate with the next and loft it aimlessly past the back post and then finally try a short corner which ends up with Justin on the corner of the box smashing it out of play for a goal kick. Rinse and repeat

Wasn’t it faes at Leeds ?  Or was that second ball ?

either way, most clubs have set piece coaches and if ours is crap then he needs replacing.  I’m thinking we don’t actually have one (more arrogance ? )

Yes you're right.

What happened to that Danish bloke? Supposed he got binned after relegation. What does it matter anyway? Half of the set piece takers can't ever get it past the first man.

Wasn't that Lars Knusden (spelling) to do with that sort of thing?

Is it me or have we been saying how bad we are at corners since Brendan was here?

So bad again today. Failed to beat the first man 90% of the time. Absolutely no threat and just so easy to defend against.

Not another club in this league with worse players at taking corners and free kicks. Another example of how off our strategy is from recruitment through to on the field. It's a fundamental part of the game and minimal thought has been put in to it from us since we lost Maddison and Tielemans.

Considering we seemingly have a set piece coach, it was quite disappointing today.

The only 2-3 we looked mildly threatening from were the near post ones from Ayew where Fatawu was trying to flick it on.

The other one was the free kick Winks played into Ayew and then into Fatawu but then he couldn't control it.

Worth pointing out that Cov class themselves as being an utter disgrace at defending set pieces as well, like LCFC 2021/22 and 2022/23 bad and look how pathetic we were at them today against them. Scuffers

Also their long throw merchant was a handful today.

People turn their noses up at a Challinor-esque launcher because Guardiola said it’s not sexy time unless you’re stringing together 5000 passes before you walk it into the net.

I’d love someone who could do that in our side. Will bag you 5 goals a season and that could make the difference.

Thomas can proper launch it into the box, was doing it quite a bit towards the end of last season and did one today

Need to take advantage of it more

This Pep Guardiola stance has become a parody of itself. If a random club in any league started scoring an abundance of goals from long throw ins, just absolutely launching it in creating threat after threat then collectively the football fans of this country would absolutely love it. No noses would be turned up.

Solid defences capitulating because a 28 year old with 4 appearances for Greece U21s can absolutely sling it 60 yards. There is not a fan in the world that wouldn’t enjoy it.

When was the last time we scored directly from a free kick? Can’t recall one in the last 2 years. Phil

Mav v Plymouth 2023 was one.
