As a 60s youth I liked them

I played a couple of Youtube vids yesterday and quite liked the music, I must say. Still not sure about the 70s showbiz-style presentation, though.

Maybe you were a mellower youth in the 60s than I was in the 70s? Or if not, maybe Cleo and Johnny mellowed you out? ;)

They called me Mellow Yellow.

The older reader might remember Mark Lazurus who has died aged 86. Probably most famous as scoring the winner for QPR in 1967 League Cup Final at Wembley against WBA.

Are you sure he's dead?

Alan  Ahlberg .

I remember the “Funny bones” books he and his wife wrote .

RIP.

I went to primary school with Jessica,  their daughter, she was in my form and I remember her being a quiet and gentle child.   Even at 8 I was rather star struck as Funny Bones and the Jolly Postman were two of my favourite books as a child.

RIP Loni Anderson aka Jennifer Marlowe from WKRP In Cincinnati.

She was 79.

That was a great sitcom from an age of pretty good US sitcoms, such as Cheers, Soap etc. Howard Hesseman's Dr Johnny Fever was legendary.  I think Loni Anderson was married to Burt Reynolds at some point

Clearly a vivid imagination to create such a character.

Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 (among others) and the only man to visit the Moon twice but never set foot on it, aged 97.

This one has hit me hard. It is a mark of huge shame on our species that we turned away from the steps he and others made and that he, in the course of his very long life, never got to see "when will we be going back, and who will that be".

Just came here to post this.

97 is a great age, for a remarkable life.

Well said, and legitimately a hero. He spoke at my college commencement some 15+ years ago. Truly humbling, both in his words and to be in his presence.  Felt grateful that my grandparents (including a WWII veteran) were in attendance that day to hear from someone of their generation, who embodied service and honor above self.

That's the Apollo 8 crew now all sadly deceased. Of Apollo 13 Fred Haise is 91.

"We do not realise what we have on Earth until we leave it" Jim Lovell.
