Bit different than dirty flirty Marti with West Brom. Imagine Manchester City speak to quite a few people. Seem to remember and a time when they were talking to Brodgers before his fat contract.

The right clubs will sound that out first rather than our very long, dull, whoever is cheapest and nearest Marti / Cooper shite recruitment strategy using an agency.

Tuchel, Lampard, Poch, Potter and now Enzo!!! Do BlueCo actually have a clue??

That list is nuts when you read it.

It's an imposdible job.

He does seem to have a short shelf - life!  Lucky we sold him before his sell-by date.

The script is written then, Pep wins his last Premier League and Maresca walks in to Man City.

I can see Maresca going on to be the most decorated manager that we've ever had.

This should be our aim as a club IMO, sell people after a good 12-24 months, get good value for them and move onto the next.

There was that one standout game I seem to remember- we thrashed Southampton towards the back end of the season.

But it seemed to me that day that the players took matters into their own hands and played with instinct rather than under Maresca’s direction

If you make something up, and say it often enough, it might one day become true.

He's not the messiah

Are you another bitter ex that pushed for Cooper being "better in the Prem"

Maresca achieved every target he was set at this club, including integrating youth players like Nelson and McAteer.

Why do you dislike him so much?

No I think Enzo is a good manager and employing Cooper was the worst move we could have made just fyi

The team he had  here was vastly better than those Marti is working with….Vardy, Wilf, a committed Winks, Dewsbury Hall, better keeper, and the rest…..no comparison….could be argued if we did (likely won’t) get up via play offs, it’s a better achievement than two years ago…..

The fact he got Winks committed is quite an achievement based on his performances on and off the pitch under Cooper, RVN and Marti.

Maresca getting promotion with a team built in the majority around a poor relegated squad, having taken decisive actions with players who he saw couldn’t play his system, then coaching the squad to quickly take on his distinct style of play, was an outstanding bit of coaching IMO.

I wonder if he will make Harry Winks his first signing at his next job.

Yep. How bad are we going to feel when Enzo succeeds Pep and we see a smiling Winks lifting the CL trophy in a sky blue shirt?

We may disagree on how well backed he's been. Huge investment in the squad before he arrived too, he's hardly short of very good footballers. If he requires that level of investment to do well then maybe he's not that good a manager?

I'd aruge that backing isn't just how much you spend but the extent to which you agree a plan with a manager and recruit to fit. Chelseas recruitment is kid in a sweetshop level of scattergun, no-one is backed there, they're just foisted with whatever random player Boehly found that week.

What, like ‘Enzo’s football was good to watch’?

I've brought this up a few times. I never minded watching us dominate teams, and the chess element of the game actually intrigued me. We did spend a lot of that 1st half of his season dominating but waiting to absolutely muller a team - but it never happened.

2nd half of the season a number of teams (especially lower in the table) worked out how to play us, and Enzo rightly or wrongly stuck to his system. The frailties we saw then are still prevalent today.  Nullify the wingers, press Vestergaard and when he was playing, press Winks. You then get your opportunity when when of those loses the ball and the inverting full back is high up the pitch. When anyone brings up that 'Enzo got this lot playing brilliantly' I always quickly point out the his 2nd half season was poor, with much, much better players than Marti currently has. Maybe he should have adapted, but i think he was right to stick with it.

The Southampton game has become one of those folklore moments, largely because of his post match interview where he said it wasnt the perfect game. As always, too much gets read into this. We still had a job to do and im sure in his eyes the players needed to focus moving forward on his patterns of play still. That game, Southampton stupidly came and played their plan A against us and 2 teams were not going to have 60%+ possession. If they had followed the model that Plymouth / Millwall had done then the result would have been very different.

I've not watched much of Chelsea, but i have a good mate whos a fan and he's never been pi55ed at Enzo. Really appreciate how he got their sh1t in order.

I’ll hold my hand up and say I did actually like watching Enzoball. Not sure any manager plays the style that every fan wants. Maresca emphasised wing play and loaded the team with creativity. Eventually every team parked the bus against us which is very difficult to play against and will ultimately result in having to grind out games.

At least your reply is completely balanced

Have a look on their forum though. I’d say a small majority hated his football
