FA Youth Cup 3rd round on Friday night Vs Chelsea is at the training ground, tickets available.

Interesting to see who features, we've been using a few of the U18's at 21's level and if they play as usual there's 3 games in 6 days over the next two weeks. Although perhaps the Marseille game will be treat as an experiment as it's a friendly apparently.

No other U18 fixtures until January though so perhaps they'll play all 3.

could be involved vs Newcastle if Winks and Ndidi are out?

Sounare is banned as well isn’t he? so pretty sure he should make the bench at least.

Golding has been playing as a winger for you U21s though so might not be what we need

Ruud van Nistelrooy hints at potential Leicester City debutant amid injury problems
The manager could be without Boubakary Soumare, Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks when he takes his side to Newcastle for his first away game as Leicester City manager

Summer signing Michael Golding could be in line for his Leicester City and Premier League debut this weekend if the club’s stricken midfield duo don’t recover in time.

Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) and Harry Winks (groin) are both injury doubts for this Saturday’s trip to Newcastle, and with Boubakary Soumare suspended, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has just two senior midfield options available in Oliver Skipp and Hamza Choudhury. The manager has suggested Golding, who has trained with the first team under the Dutchman, would be next in line to feature.

A £5m recruit from Chelsea in the summer, the 18-year-old has not yet enjoyed a senior outing for City and has only once been included in a matchday squad, when he was an unused substitute for the Carabao Cup tie at Walsall. But with van Nistelrooy short of options, he could hand Golding a place on a Premier League bench for the first time at St James’ Park, giving him a shot at a debut.

Discussing his midfield last week, van Nistelrooy said: “We have many options, also for when there’s suspensions and injuries. We have some good young lads. Michael Golding is there. Will Alves is a bit higher up the pitch, more of a winger or a no.10, but there’s a lot of options here and it’s great to work like this.”

Beyond Golding, Henry Cartwright has been a consistent presence and consistently good performer for City’s Under-21s this season. While Golding is perhaps more of an attacking midfielder, showing promise with his dribbling and creativity, Cartwright is a more defensive option, the 19-year-old strong in the challenge and with a good passing range.

Has Golding got the natural game to play in the double pivot ala Soumare/Winks/Ndidi? I suppose he's a bit more of a deep lying midfielder than say Alves is but if we are needing a defensive midfielder this Saturday I'd have thought Cartwright gets strongly considered.

pretty sure when he signed Golding was described as someone who could play 6, 8 or 10

Sometime you have throw them in, we have been guilty of being too reserved.

Sink or swim.
