Jayden Joseph has trained and travelled with the 1st team under Ruud already.

Brandon Cover is potentially worth a shot but it's unchartered territory if he's at this level yet.

Olabade Aluko is the youngest of the three but very highly rated. He's already a mix of pace, strength and stature. Got every chance of making it.

If only Wormleighton had carried on developing as he seemed to be doing 18 months or so ago

Covers still at Port Vale isn't he?

Friend a big Vale fan, he likes Cover but is doubtful he can make the standard at our level.

What’s happened to him? He seemed to be getting close before.

If we go down and possibly have an embargo or have to cut back anyway, do we have many who would be likely to be worth bringing through in the Championship, straight into the side without loans?

My pet theory, probably complete rubbish, is that you should seize the moment with youngsters and thrust them in at the moment when they're on the up and full of confidence, continue the momentum in their development.  On the other hand, if you miss that opportunity and the youngster gets frustrated by it, starts to see no forward path, and loses that momentum then they'll soon reach a point where they start to go stale and their development will start to tail off.

If there's any truth to that theory then our recent managers have failed badly and hindered the long-term progress of the club.  I certainly feel that Wormleighton should have been given more encouragement. 2 years ago he was looking very good; just think how much better we could have been faring this season with a solid right back.

I do wonder whether there would have been a better chance of keeping hold of Nyoni if he could have been more optimistic of being pushed forward here in the way that Liverpool have done.  Keeping my eyes closely on the Monga situation now.

I'm wondering if the Nyoni ordeal has altered how we start to manage and use academy players

wormleighton was unlucky with injuries which stalled his development, then when he was fit again he started playing CB a lot so didn’t make much of an impact.

Is there still a jobs for the boys culture within the coaching set up? I seem to remember a bit of fuss being made about no pathways to promotions around the time Idiakez left for derby and it seems unless those in positions leave themselves they’re in a job for life.

I only ask because surely with our state of the art training ground developing coaches is as much of a priority as developing players.

Maybe a bit of a Barcelona le Masia pipe dream but it would be good if when a first team manager departs we could have a replacement from our own academy

At least Ruuds getting em on the bench.

Big change from Coops who was a step backwards in regards to the academy imo.

He is kind of forced too tbh but least he don’t put 2 keepers on like some do

If they are fit mcateer and faes could easily be in the bench over the two academy lads though? So maybe he rewards for impressing in training?

Shame he barely got a sniff coming on so late but at least Alves has now had his Prem debut

2nd in 4 days along with Stolarczyk

Hopefully he can get a start against QPR

he could have easily put Edouard on the bench instead of the young defender

I assume Edouard has appearance fees linked to games and he will swiftly return to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

probably but it would still have been safer to put him on the bench over Wilson-Brown given we already had another CB there

to at least put themselves in RVN's mind, cos they could be what we need in the 1st team

I think they’ll be given a go.

The Alves league debut has given me more confidence that the new regime is aware of the quality that the academy will bring

We might as well through them in for the experience we're not going to be winning it this season.

The more exposure they get the better for their careers.
