Doesn't matter if I trust him or not. Awarding outrageous contracts to certain players doesn't just happen at our club. I'm not supportive or unsupportive of the clubs current transfer policy as I don't know the facts.

We have a long history of over-paying. These are not accusations - more like facts.  Paying 12.5m for Ward as opposed to paying slightly over the odds to get this over the line, seems a no brainer - ‘if’ this lad has been scouted diligently…..

Ward is the obvious overpay. And as you say, we have a long history. But there are more unsung examples of overpayment..

 

Monaco had our pants down for Tielemans. Most clubs would've bid more.modestly....and left Tielemans to kick up a stink with his parent club to sanction the move. 

 

Puel at St Etienne knew with insider trading knowledge exactly that we'd pay 5.or 6m more for Fofana. 

 

Perez was a grotesque overpayment at 30m FFS. We all knew he was a decent 12m level player. 

 

The Bertrand debacle. Nobody else in the world would've paid a penny more than 30k a week. We shelled out ,80k. 

 

Obviously Slimani and Silva funded the entire Portuguese game for 2 or 3 years.

It wasnt that long ago that Foxestalk had a similar view during the negotiations for Soumare and Daka. Even Tete was seen as the second coming (fortunately no transfer fee but probably a tidy sum in wages).

This has a Slimani and Silva smell about it. There are seemingly, like them, no other English clubs overly keen on him. Why? Too much money and no doubt too much in wages for a player that seemingly doesn't really want to be here.
