Southampton, surely. They look absolutely abject against even fellow strugglers.

They looked pretty good against us for 60 minutes.

Might have been a completely different narrative if that Faes (almost) own goal had gone in

When was it the last time that four clubs collectively didn't get a win after 8 league games?

It seems like a niche statistic.

Palace are awful. Belong in the championship let’s be honest. Everything about them is championship.

fans

ground

cheerleaders

the ground

the ultras group

Corner flags

nigel Martin rooted to the spot in 96

the holmesdale funatics

the terrible view from the away end

their current league position

Jean Mateta pointing at his imaginary watch constantly

only good thing about them is Eze but even he ain’t that great

They didn't. They comfortably looked the worst team in the league and were trying really hard to break their duck.

Sometimes inferior teams just win.

I wasn't expecting prime Barca or anything but they surprised me just how bad they were. We weren't great at times either and yet still fully deserved to win.

If Eze gets injured they're doomed.

There's only so long you can get away with selling off your best players. Southampton found this a few years ago as did yourselves. Unless your recruitment is ridiculously efficient like Brighton it will catch up with you eventually.

This league is brutal like that.

We contrived to go down with Tielemans, Barnes, Ricardo Maddison and Vardy in the squad. It was a complete capitulation, not the inevitable outcome of years of squad weakening.

… or, presumably, throw away a 2 goal lead and lose in the last minute

Man United might not wait too long with ETH if they don't buck up.

I think they have been burnt a few times by bring in managers mid-season.

I think they will change him in the summer.

I thought they'd be pretty decent this season. I know they lost Olise, but otherwise looked like a team on the rise.

Same. Olise going is a big loss and I think at the minute you cancel Eze out and they haven’t got another idea but it is a surprise.

Suspect Moyes ends up there before long.

True but before that you lost Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, Fofana, Chilwell and Drinkwater at basically one a year. It's nign on impossible to keep replacing players of that level.

Actually think that Brendan really wanted to go to Celtic (a boyhood fan, apparently?), and hence took risks with the goalkeeping situation to negatively change results to lead to his dismissal.

Please keep telling us about our own club. I’m learning so much

There is actually a strong argument that one of the reasons for our demise was not selling players. Our model for years was sell one a year and then reinvest. A bit like Brighton are doing now. The season we went down was about the first time we didn’t sell one of our star players and had finished (from memory) 5th, 5th and 8th in the previous 3 seasons.

The squad and team were easily strong enough to survive that season. The real reason we went down is that we’d got a manager who’d checked out and mismanagement off the pitch. It wasn’t selling players that caused it, but buying too many players that just weren’t fit for purpose

Well we did it and successfully, what actually ****ed us was straying from that model

I'd argue losing the strong dressing room presence of Morgan, Schmeichel and Fuchs was the key reason.

Obviously also taking into account the sabotage from Rodgers.

Wolves and Palace really digging themselves a hole.

I don't think Wolves are particularly good, and they've certainly not really helped themselves in their "easier" games – but they've played 4 sides you'd expect to finish in the top 6, from 8 games (Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Liverpool). They've had a rough start of it.

Wolves looked poor against us as well and really got away with one thanks to an unstoppable screamer. From what I've seen generally though I'd say they have enough about them to wriggle clear.

Ipswich and particularly Southampton look absolutely doomed already to be honest.

We finished 8th the season after Morgan and Fuchs left, we're also talking about someone saying you can't sell a big player every year like we were and get away with it. When in fact the trouble seemed to begin when we didn't sell anyone at the start of 21/22 but still spent a fair whack which ended up meaning we couldn't do any business the following summer. There's more to it then just that obviously, but it seemed to be a start to the downfall

Agree. Ipswich can’t buy a result and I struggle to see where a win would come from for them.

same goes for saints too as palace and wolves right now.

I may be getting carried away after Saturdays win but I think we finish 13th not much danger.

easily 7 worse sides and 5 far worse id say.

Everton the worst team we play so far with saints close behind but they were good for 45. Ok for 15 and honking for 30

Not disagreeing with you at all. Just another thing that helped start the ball rolling on our decline.

Every season Everton look awful and every season they wriggle out of it somehow. They are the turd that won't flush.
