I'd keep away from Sky Sports News this morning, they're comparing 15/16 us with them this season

But they will be better right?

Over the last 6 matches, Forest have gained 18 times as many points as City.

It seems that the Foremost footballing power in the East Midlands isn't us any longer!

They've had a great season, but are due a stutter.

Chelsea are having a little hiccup, Newcastle and Villa have had theirs, God knows Manchester City have. They're not so good as to be able to keep this up until May.

Chelsea have hit a buffer though.

Chelsea aren't that good though are they. They've only really beaten Brighton, Villa and Newcastle who you could class as top 6 teams. Lost to Man City, lost to Liverpool, drew with Forest, drew with Man Utd, drew with Arsenal.

All this "title challenge". They were never going to challenge for the title.

I'm not one for using that because people threw that at our title winning season which I did not agree with either. After 20 games a team isn't top 3 by luck or by other's failing.

I never said it was?

I'm saying that every team around them has had a wobble and they haven't. They will have one at some stage and then it's up to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle to capitalise on it.

Everyone else said the same about us. Just accept their having a great season

Yeah but they're also 6 points behind a fantastic Liverpool side who have a game in hand and are absolutely motoring.

They're not in a title race for the same reason Arsenal aren't, just nobody's catching Liverpool.

It'll still be a fantastic achievement if they finish top 4 though and will help offset the financial difficulties they're due next year when they, like Leicester and Everton before them, have to deal with the fact they overspent massively to close a gap.

Lot of pressure for them to hold on. If Man City put a run together and pip them to fourth as Liverpool did to us in the Rodgers era, the drop from Champions League money to Europa League money is massive.

I see. Maybe I jumped in but I've seen those posts before and I don't agree with it.

It's a remarkable season from Forest, fair play to them. They might end up finishing top four, certainly been consistent so far to suggest that and it includes taking points away from Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

I hope Bournemouth are able to sneak into the top 6 as well. It's nice to see both Manchester clubs and Spurs outside the top 6.

We were lightning in a bottle, to be honest. We lost three games all season and they've already lost four.

With Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle all to play, they have some absolute six pointers. It's brutal at the top, as we learned under Rodgers. One or two poor performances and those around you swoop.

Oh yeah I don't think they're in a title challenge. I never meant or said that. It's totally different to our position in 2016 but I believe they can hold onto a top 4 place. Not seen anything to suggest otherwise yet although I think all eyes will be on Manchester City putting a run together.

Difference being we’d already put our feet up at this stage, two seasons running, Forest are sustaining it, playing in an according to some unsustainable way.

they're on for 2 points per game. If they keep it up and get to 76 points then they will be comfortably in the UCL places. Probably 3rd.

Every chance England gets 5 spots next season as well. Currently well ahead of the rest in the coefficient rankings.

There's really only one outstanding team this season as Manchester City are beginning to age. I wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool monopolise the league for a few years as the latter have done.

They've basically gone back to basics. Incredible defence and attack with pace

Simple isn’t it.

For anyone but Liverpool to win the league, they’d need to win every game and hope that Liverpool went into 6th-8th form, which quite frankly is not gonna happen. They’re far too good.

Their issue is going to be what Trent, Salah and Van Dijk do.

I can see Trent and Salah leaving

If they can maintain their current form, then yes. They qualify for the UCL and deserve to.

But that's my point. It's tough to maintain that. Only one team is bettering it at the moment because everyone below has had blips.

If they lose one or two, or even start drawing instead of winning, they go below 2 PPG. And that's even more pronounced in impact if they lose to those teams around them, as they already have with Newcastle and Arsenal.

It’s such a poor league, this Liverpool side is so average in comparison to the team that won the title during Covid.

The difference is that Man City have had a real slump. The rest of the league generally now is stronger than it was during that season imo.

The champions league isn’t the financial boom that it used to be. They will still have to sell over the summer like Villa had to sell Douglas Luiz. And given the make up of their squad, it’ll have to be one of the star players that has got them there.
