Be interesting to see what develops of this:

'Evangelos Marinakis, owner of English Premier League soccer club Nottingham Forest, can continue his libel lawsuit against a Greek rival over an alleged smear campaign, London's High Court ruled on Friday.

Greek shipping magnate Marinakis launched the case against Irini Karipidis, chair of Greek Super League club Aris Thessaloniki, last year.

He says Karipidis is behind a website alleging Marinakis was involved in match fixing, drug smuggling and shipping Russian oil in breach of sanctions, which Marinakis strongly denies.

Karipidis, however, says she has "a clear defence of truth" to the libel lawsuit and asked the court to overturn permission to serve the lawsuit on her outside of England.

Judge Richard Spearman dismissed that application, saying in a written ruling that Marinakis' case can proceed'

Was arguing with a mate about whether we ever won a relegation battle in the premier league era and proudly said the closest one I can remember us staying up in was our first season back in the premier league in the late 90s but you could argue we weren't really in one....

......until he mentioned the great escape season

I agree.

Dyche is a terrible manager and I was looking forward to him finally doing what needed to be done to Everton for the past 30 years. Sadly, Moyes will keep them up. Again.

This is the worst feeling relegation battle for a long time though.

14/15 was the first season back and so the crowd felt generally positive even if results didn't follow. Lots of encouraging the team after conceding and some genuine effort on the pitch. I must admit I finally threw in the towel on us staying up after the Hull 0-0, but obviously what followed was due to the never say die attitude of that squad.

16/17 never really felt like one in the end though we were incredibly poor first half of the season. It always felt like that team which had been so brilliant before would find a way.

21/22 I don't think we ever felt like dropping in to trouble. The end of the season definitely flattered us and warning signs were there but I never felt like we were in danger.

22/23 just such a huge underperformance. Brings with it its own frustrations but that team had enough quality to be able to put together a run of wins. We absolutely deserved to go down, but there was always a glimmer of hope that we'd stay up due to the genuine quality in the squad.

This year is just bleak. The team is bottom 3 on paper. Threat of points deductions this and next season if we do go down, which adds jeopardy. And the quality to string together a good month just doesn't feel there. It's a real slog at the moment but that's probably not surprising after 5 league defeats in a row.

It may have been the personnel given it continued under Lopetegui, but Moyes' West Ham were super leaky: 74 goals conceded last season.

Could go either way, if the defence stays strong and he gets them scoring then they'll be comfortable. If the defence starts to leak then they're in the shit. Plus I don't think it's an appointment which injects enthusiasm into the fan base. A big gamble.

Just looking at the managerial sackings and subsequent appointments at both West Ham and Everton, it just shows how disorganised we are. Neither club have “great” ownership. Probably some mistakes there in the way they did things (mistakes happen). Both sacked their current manager and hired a replacement, not a game missed.

We sack and then sit around and think about who to get. The criticism of the hierarchy is not some bandwagon, you can see our incredible shortcomings when compared to our competitors. Most of whom have problems but we are simply unprofessional.

Yep, usually you should have a replacement ready to go before you even fire the gun.  Also Ironic its Potter and Moyes for both clubs, we failed to get either when we moved first.

Would have had Moyes here but Potter is vastly overrated.

Potter would have made loads of sense as a transition from Enzo I think. Lots of uncertainty and doubts over his abilities after his Chelsea stint but he's philosophically close to the Enzo style and would have given us more evolution than revolution. Think the summer window would have been much better with him.

Not necessarily. Moyes relegated Sunderland not too long ago, and he conceded more than us under Gary O'Neil at West Ham last season.

True. But like you say, it's probably the West Ham defence. If given the choice, I'd know which of the CB pairings out of Branthwaite & Tarkowski vs Kilman & Mavropanos I'd go for.

Has anyone got a summary of how dodgy he is? Forest have never really bothered me but that seems horrendous.

You can check some of my posts regarding him here at the forum. You can also google "NOOR 1 case" and be shocked what has happened there and is still happening.

Bit harsh, he has kept Everton up.  He is a type cast manager, suits a purpose.

I think Moyes keeps Everton up, I have a feeling Potter might drag West Ham back into it despite some of the quality they have in their team.

It all depends which Moyes they get. He's got some utter stinkers on his record, Sunderland being the worst among them, and the UECL win at West Ham masked some very poor league performances.

I just don't agree. They weren't going down with Dyche🤣. If anything it could go the opposite way!

Sunderland were the last Everton so to speak; an unflushable turd who looked destined to scrape 16th or 17th forever until Moyes took them down.

He could give them fresh impetus, don't get me wrong. But it could very easily go the other way.

Agree, don’t see how Moyes will get beto and DCL firing? Only reason I think Everton aren’t in the drop zone was how good they were defensively. Would say Dyche has better might be better at making a defence better than Moyes but I may be wrong

Exactly. Truth is, we don't know what will happen but I honestly thought they'd stick with Dyche and then consolidate at the end of the season with a fresh start.
