It started out interesting as by match four quite a few big clubs were struggling, but typical fashion come match eight all of them progressed. Villa must be thrilled first season back for over 40 years is it? In the league phase theyve finished above real Madrid, bayern, psg and man city.

 

Rodgers been by outclassed by Rogers theres an headline for tomorrow lol.

I know what you mean in that it's a lot of games and sometimes often just luck as to who you get but the results and matches have made it more interesting.

I am sure the big teams will look for a way to make sure they get through next time though.

Would've been better if some of the bigger clubs dropped out. But 8 games is to many for the top teams to struggle.

Agreed to an extent but would you rather watch Zagreb v Bayern in Ro16 'KO playoffs' or Man City v Bayern?

Fair point. I know Bayern put 9 past Dinamo but the question "would I rather watch that game or Man City v Bayern" is exactly what the super league creators want, which the Champions League has turned or is turning into now.

Any final is possible at the moment unless you're 'paired' with a team.

Liverpool cannot possibly meet Barca until the final.

It's true on the whole though.

In theory the new format creates more 'big' games in the league phase as seed 1s play two other seed 1s, whereas previously they were all kept apart. These are effectively the two additional league games.

In the knockouts it's almost the same as it was previously, just the additional play off round, plus being able to draw teams from same league is immediately on the cards.

Villa fan mentioned if Mings hadnt have picked up that ball they would have possibly faced real Madrid in the ro16.
