First time I've sat right behind the dugout so bit of a novelty. It was fascinating to see the workings during a game. One observation: I really do not think any of the players can hear instructions from the bench and quite often seemed to confuse the players.

 

Ange barely said much. Our management team were straight out of Mike Bassett England manager. And the assistant has the loudest finger whistling technique. It was a joy to behold, the notes pitch perfect whenever called upon.

 

The pre-match montage, the poetry, Shakey's goodbye applause, the rain, the tension. My goodness I missed this.

 

The first half the body language of the players was pitiful. I felt sorry for them. They were nervous, unsure. When the kickoff whistle blew footballing basics left them. We should have been buried in the first 20 minutes. The KP was practically silent besides the partying Spurs fans.

 

Words were said at half time with the team arriving back on the pitch late. I don't know if the players have ever seen the montage played on the stadium screens before kick off. They were enlivening. You can feel the weight and pride of what was achieved just months ago. The adrenaline rushes.

 

The second half - well clearly Cooper had given the players permission to not be afraid. Be present, be wanting, play for your own pride. And the noise. Wow. Normally when sat in the Kop end it can sound empty even when you can tell the away fans are singing their hearts out. From the dugout area at times the noise from our fans was deafening. Cooper gave us permission to continue. At first a slight wrist wave. Then full arm movements. The players fed off it. So did the manager.

 

The first half was embarrassing. The second half was pride in blue.

I think it’s good that we only have two more league games (Fulham, Villa) before Sep 14 which will allow us to hopefully sign and bed in at least two players who can challenge for starter spots, one of those being a striker is an absolute must, before we return against Palace in September. Good start though. Let’s see if we can take at least a point vs Fulham on Sat and at least challenge Villa. No easy games.

It has to be said, they did really well in the first half too.

 

When a pattern of a game becomes set like that, it’s really hard to break out of it.

 

It would have been so, so, easy for heads to drop after the first goal and concede a second - but they didn’t.

 

They dug in, got to halftime, knowing they could regroup.

 

Then, whether it was Cooper or the players themselves, they sorted it out - press higher, because then you don’t have 11 deep in your own half with 100 yards to go to get a shot on goal.

 

The bravery and fight in that second half got it’s just rewards and almost more.

 

And make no mistake, that is also a huge result for the rest of the transfer window.

 

It’s the sort of team performance that will get players thinking “yeah, I want to be a part of that.” 
 

Fingers crossed we back it up with another performance against Fulham.

Proud of the lads, Buonanotte wasted nothing he was absolutely superb. 
 

Maddison doesn’t change, tail up first half but no stomach for the fight in the second half.

Good from Cooper at half time, made some tactical changes which turned the game. Have to get more aggressive in our defending from crosses into the box both from set pieces and open play. It's been a problem for a long time which no manager seems to be able to fix

Point gained and solid way to start the season. Didn't watch the game so can't comment, it's the result that matters.

Really enjoyed that interview 

 

He's honest and right. Was too negative and deep first half. Probably drilled it in to them about staying in the game. Second hand Winks, and more so Wilf, played a little higher and it meant when we did over turn possession that we had more bodies in attack.

 

A good start to his reign. Back up striker and another 10 type/left sided attacking threat will suffice until January and see where we are and what's happening with the deduction

All I hoped for tonight was seeing some grit and fight, and I was pleasantly surprised with what we came back with in the second half. Gives the fans and the squad a big lift that second half performance. Thought Buonanotte had a good night 😉 and Fatawu grew into the game. Play like the second half this season, we aren’t as dead and buried as we might fear

They came out and dominated for 15 mins, wasting multiple chances.
