This is always the big problem with the youth setup in this country. If the above happened, at least the tribunal hearing would go in our favour if he played and had a big impact in the season. So whilst we might not get Bellingham money, it should be a lot better than if he leaves at the end of this season, which IMO is the bigger worry.

 

Regardless we've got to be playing players like this and showing them there is a clear pathway to the first team as the long term benefit is huge and the academy could end up paying for itself many times over the course of the next decade or two.

 

I will give some credit to the academy coaches; Monga, Adams and McAteer all have excellent off the ball work, which is essential in the modern game. For the El Khannouss chance, Monga was also in the perfect position to support the attack and recieve the ball if needed. Usually youth starlets have the technical talent, but that side of the game takes longer to grasp.

 

By the end of the game, seeing Stolarczyk, Thomas, Monga, Evans and Golding on all at the same time was pretty encouraging.

More he plays and the better he does the more likely we will get a better fee at tribunal.

But we saw the club giving Alves this treatment last year. It’s just worthless gesturing. If, like Alves, he Monga signs a contract with us, he’ll be shunted back down into the youth set-up or will have an ‘experienced’ player ahead of him. The club did immense damage to trust last year.

I was most impressed by his defensive work today. We all know he's going to have a career of causing issues for defenders, but good to see he was working hard and tracking back.

At least if he does get poached by a bigger. Club  there’s a good chance of getting more compensation  than we did for the others with him actually being played .

All the top clubs in Europe are queuing up for him. He doesn’t have to sign a pro deal until he’s 17, until he’s on a pro deal clubs can come and offer him the world and there’s not a lot we can do about it. If he goes to an English club it will go to a tribunal to decide how much is paid (but it’s usually a pathetic amount of money - we’d probably be lucky to get more than £5m). I think a foreign club can swoop in and take him for even less, if not free? Might be wrong on that though.

Thanks - I presume this situation lasts until his 17 birthday.

Unless he commits to a pro deal. Which I imagine will be the next bump in the road when his agent starts playing silly bollocks.

 he’s very similar to Evan’s really, he can play anywhere. Very much a new age striker

Why can they offer him the world if we can’t, seems odd

Can't believe I forgot about Abdul, if he also stays we have so many options. Ayew and BDCR need to be moved on to ensure we give proper gametime to Alves, Evans and Monga.

I wouldn't be against Ayew staying and basically doing the Ashley Barnes role of coming on for the last 20 minutes and buying free kicks. He should be nowhere near the wings though. 

 

Reid I think we're stuck with unless Bristol City fancied him, they were vaguely interested in Jan?

Not sure what the source was, but there was word on here that a fair few MLS clubs are interested.

Ayew at least resembles a footballer. I’ve seen nothing from BDR that you wouldn’t see down the park on a Sunday morning
