Best bit of business this club has done in a long time is getting him to commit to a pro deal next summer

I just hope we aren’t still in the position where we have to take a low fee for him

Next summer could be really rough if we lose both Monga and Fatawu

Sad reality is that to get back (and then move forward) on a better financial footing we’re going to have to revert to buy/promote > develop > sell for profit. Given away far too many assets (financial, debatable if some were footballing assets!) on a free in recent years. Kasey this summer appears a great case study of this, but in the future if/when it happens to Monga and/or Fatawu it’ll just be our position in the football hierarchy. Key is then to repeat and not shift the model.

Just going to enjoy this season and if he stays beyond that then it's a bonus.

Massive credit to our academy. Hopefully with Evans, Page, Aluko, Hutchinson and Motsi we get to herald what we have patiently been developing over the last decade (admittedly some of these have joined our academy only in the last few years)

I we get back up I think he'll do one more season with us. Then go for what will probably be a record fee for someone his age with absolutely mental add ons.

Winding me up seeing people saying the skill put the player down, completely ignoring the fact that Monga stamps on his foot/ankle as he goes for the stepover lol

I think it's just the funnier scenario that the opposition got so embarrassed that he had to go to ground. Youre probably right that he goes down with a sore foot but if it gives people a chuckle there's no harm in people believing otherwise.

Would love to hear the discussions people at the club have had about him in the last few years.

Wonder what it’s like seeing this ridiculously talented child coming through knowing you’ve got someone special

“Does he have enough PL experience?”

Surely would have been muttered based on last seasons recruitment under Cooper 🤮

If we don’t get promoted he’s gone.

if we get promoted and someone comes in with a decent offer, he’s gone

I don’t want him to go to Chelsea, because they see  their young players as pound notes.

I don’t want him to go to Liverpool as they see our young players as pound notes. Man city, I feel he’d not get game time.. it really only leaves Arsenal?  God forbid he even contemplates Man United..

that really only leaves a move abroad and normally I wouldn’t suggest it for someone so young, but he just seems so cool, calm and collected that I don’t think it would  intimidate him or overwhelm him.

got dortmund written all over him really doesnt he?

I said exactly the same thing to a couple of mates the other day.

How much did they pay for the Bellingham’s?

The good thing if he signs for Dortmund is, since Brexit, players have to be 18 before they can sign for a European side.

So we would get 2 years out of Monga at least 😊

That's where I have a little issue with you take that promotion doesn't matter.

How many of our talent do we lose if we don't go up, Fatawu, Monga?

I think it does matter, but shouldn't be achieved at the risk of the club long term health.

If we can do it whilst installing a culture, a style of play, blooding the youth and chopping the dead wood, it should still be our target.

We will make at least one big sale if we go up anyway like we did with Dewsbury Hall, likely Fatawu.

Getting back to the Premier League and Premier League money is just a short term fix and can damage us in the long term like it did last time when we went up and signed Reid, Ayew, Skipp. It can only help us if we are run competently in the first place, the main priority should always be offloading the overpaid want-aways like Faes, Winks and Kristiansen. Going up with the wrong players making up the spine of the team only weakens the integrity of the team long term and guarantees us relegation the following season.

Little use worrying about it all to be honest.

PSR meant we had to sell our best player the last time we went up. Just enjoy what we have when we have them. PSR keeps clubs like us in line.

Is offloading overpaid players an oxymoron or a paradox?

£25m (+?? add-ons) for Jude as a 17y.o.

£27m (+£4m add-ons) for Jobe as a 19y.o.

Crazy to think we had on paper at least an attacking midfield trio of Fatawu, el-Khannous and Monga each saleable for at least £20million if not more, as a 2nd division team (appreciate el-Khannous is gone now). It's looking like Alves & Evans are are £10m+ players (going by McAteer sale) and similarly Nelson based on last season is likely worth at least that much if not more having that 'English defender' premium tax. Great job, maybe even (God forbid) a bit of praise going Rudkin's way

The harsh reality is, no matter how good he is, we won’t be able to get more than that, even if we all know he’s a 50m player

Bilal isnt a big sale if it goes through. We will still owe £10mil of his transfer fee to Genk next summer so it will be only £16mil net, around the same as Mcateer. We will probably need one more.

Our recent decision making would suggest we have a plan that evidences how we are going to comply with PSR. It seems for EFL potential sales in June is not acceptable and can punish us even if we were to then sell players in June and ultimately comply.

So any big sale if we go up will likely not be for compliance.

If we go up are we not at risk of breaching the PL's 3 year PSR rules. We had one of our largest ever net spends last summer and still have a number of players on PL wages this year, even taking into consideration relegation reductions, whilst in the championship.

I don't know if that's true tbh.

Last time we got promoted we still had the looming spectre of potential points deductions and two massive loss seasons. Of like 90 odd million each.

If we come out of this season promoted having spent very little and having further hugely reduced the wage bill, we'll probably be in a fairly good place to spend.

Only reason why we'd be in breach if we went up vs not going up is the bonuses for promotion.
