Thought the ref got it spot on. Never a pen

Hmmm, fats just ran straight into him, not really a 'coming together' so I'd say it's a pen and we got lucky there, but it does even up some injustices against us earlier in the season.

Hello Town Fan here,

Firstly a cracking game and atmosphere at Portman Road yesterday.

Frankly you bossed us in the two Championship games last season. And for the first 10mins - where you should have scored from Mvidi - you were so superior to us I felt like our Premier credentials were looking very weak.

Then we fired up and Morsy and Phillips won the midfield battle and we did take the upper hand and deservedly scored.

There’s an excellent video from Town’s equivalent to Foxes Talk below, worth a watch. They feel that like MOTD it was a penalty - but a Leicester fan in the comments makes the point you had a similar penalty shout at our place last season, totally agree. BUT there was no VAR in the Championship.

I thought you looked good at times yesterday. You’re better than Saints and probably us. Whether Wolves stay down there and  Everton slip up, will be key.

And it's right that VAR did not overturn it. I mean, if VAR doesn't intervene on Phillips assault of Buonanotte then it shouldnt on a body check. Its right its left with Refs call, and if the ref gave it i wouldn't expect VAR to overturn it either.

Contrary to what you will read on this forum last season Town actually conceeded more goals after 90 minutes than they scored. Talk to Cardiff who scored in the 94th and 97th minutes to win 2-1 and give the Championship to the Foxes. Football can be that close. That is why we love it so much.

Yesterday we had two eveny matched teams both struggling to flow. The ref was equally appalling to both teams.

Leif's goal was a cracker. He said afterwards that he had been practising that move and shot with his manager. How many other managers would spend time on such a move with a full back ? Class act our Kieran.

Then we get a foul from a body check on the edge of the box. There follows, as they say north of the border here, a scrimmidge. This resulted in another body check that for some reason only known to the ref was not given. That is a puzzle. I mean he had a clear view.

The ball then comes out, two players go for it, both with outstreched legs and as usual it's the one that falls most convincingly that gets the foul.

So, the chances were, that either the home team is 1-0 up with a penalty or 1-0 up but down to 10 men. The ref changed the course of the game.

During this season I have been monitoring the noise coming from the away end at Portman Road.

So far the scores have been (out of 10)

Liverpool 2

Fulham 5

Villa 3

Everton 6

Foxes.  I have to say that I could hardly hear you at all except after you scored and I cant count that against the other 93 minutes of relative quiet. But you were not as bad as the no doubt corporates in the Liverpool and Villa seats. I will score you a 4.

I just wonder if the shouting for your team is in direct proportion to how much your team is expected to win.  More expectation, less noise ?

Finally I hope you enjoyed you stay in sleepy Suffolk. Judging by the numbers in the Station Hotel afterwards you did. When I walked past at about 6pm (after taking in some refreshment elsewhere myself) it was still in full swing which is unusual.

And a final finally. This time last year we would both have been pleasd to know that this fixture was taking place.

But the ref gave us a penalty against Everton a few weeks back that VAR overturned ?

Maybe VAR thought enough of a mistake had been made to be overturned. I’m not saying decisions should t be overturned, just there are ones that are 50/50 that should remain refs call.

It’s a funny game football, stats wise that must be up there as our highest in a single game this season, possession, shots, shots on even corners but it’s voiced as Ipswich were in total control and cruising to their 1st win, ohh it was also Mads easiest match, as I say funny game football.

No chance mate sorry but this is such a bad shout. It is common knowledge that away games you stand where you want.

Some of you may think that but if I’ve got a seat next to the aisle I expect to be sat there, not to have some aggressive twat give it the big one when I point out to him that he’s in my  seats.

Quite. Let's see if we're still on target for a point a match by the end of December.

Gotta play everyone twice…..logic says we play Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle,Villa, Man U….that’s 16 games with realistically no return, meaning the other 20 need to supply the points…..we are on a point a game, have a better chance based on points gained than, Saints, Ipswich Wolves…..they need to win10/11 of their remaining 28 games, some have won none in ten, some one in ten…..we have done ok….and it does remind me of Forest when they came up under Cooper

Maybe a little wiser spending that time sort out your defence, 2nd worse in the league averaging 2.1 goals against per game.

Davis scoring worldie will not keep you up, keeping cleansheets will, non of the team that have stay up last season average over 1.85

One plays the ball, the other play the man, Philips has time to pull out, instead he leave one on his man, terrible from a experienced pro who knows his on a booking.

Not according to Soccerbase brother, which says you scored more than you conceded from 90 onwards. Make it 85 onwards and the gap between scoring and conceding for you last season would be even greater (as we well know)

luckless Ipswich - must have had his eyes shut over the course of last season

In a parallel universe where competent officials actually exist, Phillips is sent off for that cowardly elbow in the back of Facundo's head and we go on to comfortably win.

Luckless my arse. Luckiest club on the planet that lot.

Anyone got a video of the Phillips challenge?

I’ve seen way more salty tweets from them since yesterday than any other fanbase (except arsenal who are the saltiest fans on the planet )

It wasn't similar shout last season, it was one of the most blatant penalties I've ever seen not given.

I think it's very sweet that so many Town fans appear to be soaking up the atmosphere of other Premier League fan forums while they can, really making the most of your time  :appl:

In a parallel  universe  we'd  of beat them twice last season and leeds would've gone up.

Also in a parallel universe Phillips would have been sent off for thuggish dangerous play in seriously endangering the safety of a fellow player just before half time and we'd have pinned them into their own half for 55 minutes (due to continued time wasting cheating which was evident for much of the 2nd half we did get to see from them) and we'd have won convincingly 3 - 0

Good to see he thinks competent officials score penalties for them as well

Sdhould have been DOGSO last season as well. Just blatantly fouled KDH with no effort to go for the ball when he was through on goal. Nothing alike,
