He’s been coaching for ten years, in decent roles too…. So it’s not like he lacks experience!

I don't know what is weirder. Saying he 'lacks experience', or saying that Moyes is a 'safe pair of hands'.

I do get that, it’s just galling that we then ahead and spent loads on Cooper’s “Premier League Experience”

You'll get no disagreement here.

You have to remember transfer income in terms of PSR is counted only in the year of the transfer. Whilst transfer expenditure is spread over the term of the contract.

So we spent relatively little in this year.  Not that I'm necessarily agreeing with the players signed. Skipp seemed odd at the time, and with his lack of appearances recently, still does!

I completely understand this, but then how do we square that circle of not being able to afford the £4m, whilst signing Cooper and THEN spent £50m in the window + wages + sign on fees etc.
Surely by that logic we could have signed Corberan and given him £46m to spend? Am I missing something?

No, you're not. If we were so hamstrung re: PSR for the financial year ending 30 June, why didn't we just wait until early July and spend a small portion of the transfer budget on Corberan (or whoever)? I've never been able to figure it out...

My thoughts on this, which of course is pure speculation, are because we didn't know about the points deduction before appointing cooper we were playing it very safe. Had we of received a significant points deduction, we would of most likely not spent anything like we did and accepted we will most likely go down but try and do it on a budget.

When it became clear we were not getting the deduction that changed and, (hopefully not recklessly) we spent some money to try and stay up, if anything I think the appointment of cooper came too quickly, I personally have no doubt that if we had received guarantees of no points deduction, it would of been a different summer.

He's going to love you lot. Expect Maresca style scenes at the end of the games after a win.
