Makes you wonder what exactly potter is holding out for?

No big club is going to hire him. His best option is lower level EPL team and build up his CV and reputation again to get a bigger pay day.

Or fook off to Germany.

I’m sure that Chelsea are paying his wages until he finds a job. It’s on him to mitigate their loss by seeking a job (very likely to be an explicit term in his contract). So he does enough to appear to be looking, with no intention of taking a job until his Chelsea pay day is over

Or ….

Paid £10m a year to spend 3 years with your young family and on the golf course with zero stress…. Knowing that if you need to work again there’s always punditry or a championship project waiting.

I’d do exactly what he’s doing now!

Wasn't this the case....

Potter signed a five-year contract but was shown the door after less than seven months in charge. Under the terms of his departure, Chelsea agreed to continue to pay Potter his salary for the next 18 months.

Maybe. Who knows for sure, I’ve read he’s still being paid…. But then I’ve read Moyes / Potter / RVN have all been appointed as our manager …. The press don’t seem to be under any obligation to report facts!

I’m just glad we didn’t manage to persuade him that he could manage us from our own golf course - I have a feeling you’re right about the time out not doing him any favours

Who says we’ve paid up cooper’s contract?  apologies it I’ve missed something

would be standard to pay the next twelve months unless cooper takes a new job. ( he would then do some negs with us to make an ex gracia  payment to encourage him to take the new job)

rodgers shafted us and we fell for it when we gave him his new deal

so rodgers had his contract fixed that he got fully renumerated and coukd take another job

It seems that way, looking at the amount of compo we paid in 2023. If we terminated his contract we had to pay it up (as per a player).

We’re pretty shite in the boardroom but even we wouldn’t fall for that again, especially with someone like cooper. unless he accepted a low wage but the quid pro quo was that his deal would be paid off if he was sacked.

Well, this is a nice change. I was personally quite disappointed when they appointed Cooper. And for those that are not happy with Rudd, just getting the locker room in order will give us a couple of wins that Cooper never would’ve got, so it’s a win right from the start. How he fairs long-term is anyone’s guess, but he doesn’t look like the type that won’t die trying.

Onwards and upwards

Keen to see what he makes of Alves, a case of fresh eyes on him, we’re a flair player down (2 when we play Brighton) and a busy schedule coming up. A lot to ask but we could do with a wild card, another option.

Maybe, just maybe, Ruud can bring some composure to Daka’s finishing.

What will his view on Vestergaard be, what will the CB pecking order be?

Will he continue the use of Wilf as an AM winning the ball higher or will he prefer players who are capable of shooting on target.

Will he be more pro-active in affecting the game with his substitutions, give the opposition something new to think about and fresh legs to contain?

All of this and more to be revealed……

And that's the point, isn't it.

People who reach the top of their field need to have the drive to not being happy with that. Perhaps Potter is happy with his lot.

And let's be clear - there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Life should be something you enjoy.
