He has done it at the highest level, managed/coached for several years (lower levels) so getting a proper gig is the next logical step. Always a risk  (any manager) but seems to be the type to be a manager and friend with boundaries. Time will actually tell if that's the case.

Wish him well (enough to keep us away from relegation but not enough to have him stolen from us  until he delivers us the league again lol)

Sorry, I put the joint back down.

My gut feeling is, he's not what we need right now. Hopefully he proves me wrong and he gets my support to do so.

Hoping he brings in some experienced coaches. Mike Phelan and Rene Meulensteen spring to mind.

Really not feeling this. Feels like an owner who grew up watching early 2000s footy and is excited he recognises a name. Just glad Rooney is already employed.

Your grandma is safe to attend our games then!

For people saying he's flavour of the month, wasn't he considered in the summer before Cooper?

When Cooper was on the verge this place was a melt down.

Glad it seems more than half of people are excited. So much doom and gloom for everyone when Cooper was in. Even if Ruud is a failure, at least we can be excited to start with.

I'm so torn, I grew up hating Manchester United and RVN was a part of that team that I despised so much! It's bitter sweat for sure but no doubt that he was class! He'll bring that spark back I feel, his name will attract decent players in Jan you'd think. I'm hopeful. Let's see!

Welcome Ruud!!!

There is no way that you play under the managers he did, in the teams that he did, scoring the goals, and winning the trophies that he did without knowing 100x more about football than our previous manager.

He’ll bring ideas, tactics, knowledge, and respect to the changing room. He’ll bring an extra pull factor for new players and have many contacts in the game.

I really can see him being successful for us, and being a long term / legend. He doesn’t need the money he’s working for fulfilment.

I’m as excited by his appointment as I was for Enzo. Got a feeling he’s going to have a stellar coaching team too!

Definitely the better option compared to Moyes, Potter, Corberan and other frauds out there. It looks a more adventurous appointment at least on paper so I'm cautiously optimistic. Still not the best choice but idk what's happening behind the curtains and if other managers were approached and rejected the offer right away.

If we can have a bit of this against arsenal then I'm more than happy with his appointment.

after watching that, makes me wonder how he'll use Facu or Bilal, both could do really well under him

Feels like the risk is less on the footballing side, he seems to have a clear attacking philosophy and let’s be honest we couldn’t look less well organised. The risk seems to be more off the pitch following his stint at PSV where he fell out with the owner, his assistants and players by all accounts. That’s impressive!

We’ve had Enzo who looked like a players person, Cooper who seemed nice but maybe lacked the tactical nous to win over the squad and now to a straight talking Dutchman. Could be wrong but if there is a development area for him it’s his man management. Time will tell and may need an arm round the player balance as his number 2.

I can understand your point but that Man Utd era had some players who were class and likeable in general. RVN, OGS and Cantona were top quality.
