I said in one of the chats prior to RVN joining, that my fear was that he was used to managing a team competing at the top of the league, with the best talent.

The problem with that, is that you develop a style that relies on having better players and being on the front foot.

When you then have a team that doesn't have the talent that's better than who you come up against, your system fails.

This is what we are seeing.  A high line, front foot approach, that sees us getting carved apart.

Exactly what I feared is what is playing out.

We’ve already tried that.

The Everton players are quite a bit better than ours.

Maybe we just picked the wrong person.

Look at the line up they put out against us, hardly amazing!

We wouldn’t have got Moyes, but we could have got some how can get us organised and harder to beat.

I would question a few of our players desires.

Someone has to motivate them, that’s the manager job!

We are picking more or less the same 11, same formation, same tactic rinse and repeat!

It the great escape season NP changed formation and it worked.

That season, the players were fighting and giving it their all with no question of desire.

This season, there are a few of them in the squad that appear to me to not be giving it 100% and just going through the motions. That will be the difference

Which was incredibly bizarre. He was easily the most qualified person available for the job.

But never coming here, he was waiting for the Everton job.

Yeah, I know that. It's just the concept of people turning their noses up at him is bizarre.

Pearson always had the players on side, we were always in games and rarely looked out of touch with the opposition.

Huth made a massive difference and we’ve got to remember, that 12 months later, we were champions of England.

The current squad I think would struggle to win the Championship. It’s worse than the team that came up, as it’s been ravaged by injuries, brain farts and poor form for most of the season.

I suspect we allow managers a large say in signings, hence the sudden and ill-advised shift in transfer strategy when Cooper joined.

Not that much a shift in strategy all the signings were young players apart from BDR and Ayew who cost 5M which is nothing in today's market

It was only with 10/11 games to go that he did that though? I remember being frustrated that we were sticking with same team and tactics under NP too…. Then the change (possibly facilitated by signing Huth / maybe the players’ meeting / Cambiasso etc) but I’m sure it was late in the season?

Yes, I think it was a last throw of the dice, without that change we would have gone down.

This feels similar, if we carry on doing the same things we are down, something has to change!

If he can get us 13 more points this season we should be able to finish 17th.

Not a cat in hells chance this team gets another 13 points.

Don't think you will need 35 reckon 30 _ 31and a good goal difference which we don't have will be enough

I think Wolves should ease comfortablely to at least 33-34 points now unfortunately.

A good goal difference,  Firstly, I can't honestly see where the next win is coming from let alone a point.  We also have the four poorest defenders in the league and RVN isn't changing it anytime soon.

Surprised he hasn’t binned it off to try and save his ‘elite’ reputation.

Next season we will rightly be on the the favourites to return.  While we moan our squad is poor, and it is, this is relative to the PL. even with a number of sales we should be competitive.

The test for RVN will be spending wisely and improving the mentality of the team.   A poor start next season and he’ll go the way of Lampard and Gerrard.

Actually quite surprised he hasn’t walked yet. Think two hammerings at United and home to Arsenal will definitely be the end.

On the contrary, I suspect that he and the club have already written off this season and it's been agreed that RvN will get the chance to take us back up with his own squad next season.
