That's extremely frustrating if so. The player himself is open to coming to Europe and the fee is very modest.

Is it not a major gamble for us though? Hoping a inexperienced south american player who can be hit and miss adjusting to foreign countries, and expecting to be key for us to stay up?

Of course, but not so sure it's anymore a gamble than any signing under £10m.

He's Argentina U20 captain and there's many examples of young South Americans doing extremely well in England and very quickly too.

When your staring at relegation everything is a gamble. Cooper’s proven premiership experience hasn’t worked. The club should gamble on players like this..

Probably Robert Lox, but my mates adamant we want Chilwell back on loan.

We don’t have loan room unless edouard or facundo go back and Ruud said neither are going

You just can't imagine us buying from South America. Others have clearly and can bring great success but can't help but feel we have little experience with it and won't like the complexity of their transfers.

This would be a player that would get better, would increase in value and is clearly highly rated. Whether we are rebuilding in the prem or the champs this transfer for that price makes it an unbelievably sensible transfer. We simply are not that clever unfortunately.

Obviously we need to throw everything at staying up this year but realistically unless we get very lucky with 3/4 transfers that turn out to be in the top 5/6 best players in the squad, we simply will not stay up. We need consider that football doesn’t stop next year, we need to rebuild with more sellable assets and I think he could well be one. If he fails then there is still a chance you get your money back anyway. No risk for me and could be part of our rebuild. Nearly every argentine we have signed has been vital so let’s sign another.

I wish we were more savvy but we just are not set up for it.

Is he actually that good? He's got similar passing stats to Okoli who has been very shaky on the ball for us. There isnt a guarantee that he will come here from Argentina and suddenly discover how to pass the ball accurately.

I'd be happy if anyone came here and could defend properly. Really would be nice to see us do the basics correctly 1st.

Top's obsession with playing like Man City needs a Man City style cheque book and even then it seems when you stop doing the basics like keeping the ball out the net, it's difficult to win games.

If we weren't trying to play out the back I would agree that having a player who defends first and knocks it forwards would work. We do try and pass out from the back though and it doesnt matter how well you defend if you're going to pass it straight to the opposition in your penalty box.

Looks like this is finished too. Off to cruzeiro for a medical.

we are an absolute shambles

Because we haven't picked up a player that no one else in Europe is interested in?

Always a lot of supposed interest in him, chances are he's getting a decent wage to move to Brazil and he's of the age where he doesn't need to move to Europe just yet

Let's be honest if other European clubs were in for him we'd be a very unattractive pick. We need to pick up value from South America where we aren't up against plenty of competition.

Depending who it is interested in Europe.

We do need to find value but not sure he's the one.

This window is terrifying, we are still stuck with two flops from the 22/23 window in Kristiansen and souttar.

We have stock piling of CB, Vestergaard, Coady, Faes, Okoli and Souttar.

For the long term future of the club I'd be sticking to what we have unless we can move one of those 4 on.

I would be looking at getting Nelson fit and chucking him in, he's show he's good enough for the Championship, can he step up.

We can't keep stock piling players, we need to be ruthless, unless we have a nailed on quality player like Fofana.

£6m for an elusive left footed CB who's Argentina U20 captain that can play left back as well. That to me seems a value punt.

Yeah if he turned out to be a flop, I don't think we'd struggle moving him, considering his profile I imagine he'd easily attract interest from Europe or Mexico

Maybe, but we should have done that in the summer rather than buying Okoli.

We should have punted the 35m spent on Okoli and Skipp on several cheaper talents.

Inter want him. And I think they would have bid if it was a rival European club but they can afford to play the long game if he stays in South America. Let him develop there and then pick up at worst for £20m rather than £7m now and have him out on loan for a couple of years.
