So he's just reiterated what he said last week? In other words, his opinion that we've breached is not based on any inside knowledge but rather on his own calculations (which he made without having seen our accounts). Did he refer again to the fact that the club is apparently very confident that it hasn't breached?

It's time a local journalist got onto this. It's being discussed widely at a national level but the Mercury/Radio Leicester don't seem to want to touch it with a barge pole. Have they been warned off by the club?!

Yes basically. Sorry was just saying what I took from it. I think we have all heard the rumours that one club is in trouble and mentioned that club is us. So no, nothing official at all but he think we are that club.

I’d worry when Percy comes out and says it’s happening. As mentioned all of the specialists predicting it’s us are making educated guesses.

He's not out the woods for me. Sometimes JP has been frustratingly clueless at times. Literally said himself that KDH sale and compo for Enzo saved our bacon for PSR concerns...yet here we are. No ones got a clue which is embarrassing if you're a supposed journo.

No he did not , he said based on his 'fag packet' calculations it looks likely.

In a nutshell he knows sweet fa and is trotting out soundbites to justify his kudos as a 'football finance expert' he confirmed nothing!

My bad, just what I took from it. There is a club in trouble and he says it’s us.

I'd imagine he gets his info from the club.... so it wouldn't surprise me if he believes that to be the case and we've ballsed it up somewhere.

I don't understand why the EFL are so vindictive and obsessed with bankrupting their member clubs.

They're justing making the gulf wider between the PL and EFL and creating 17 permanent members of the PL and the 3 promoted EFL teams.

I rather think that you've answered your own question there and if that isn't EPL's intention, it would certainly be the intention of some of their members.

Football is so ****ing boring these days isn't it

Everything revolves around money now I find it frustrating and quite sad if I'm honest.

Clubs taking other clubs to court, point deductions, etc. I wish it was just 11 blokes kicking a ball around in any given league, which is what it was intended for, they get paid fairly for it but not ridiculously and people with unlimited money can't just come along and buy a club.

The only 'excitement' and drama comes from off field issues. Still will never forget Jim White stood in front of a timer for Bolton and Bury existing.

The rules are grey at best, look at our situation last time, look at Chelsea selling assets to themselves etc.  it all depends how the rules are interpreted, and then you have the appeals board coin toss.

It also allows a lenient view on what is allowed for some clubs and a stricter view with others.

What’s loose lipped about saying ‘the club are confident’?

That’s a little bit different to a barrister leaking information……

Would love to sack it all off and follow a non league side but it feels unescapable. I'd be kidding myself saying I don't care anymore

All I know is this isn't the football I grew up loving

They're fuching holding us to emotional ransom.

I was going to retire after 45 years of supporting us when we won the FA cup in 2021 as I'd seen us win the full house.

Somehow the barstewards dragged me back in

So basically we are up to 17 pages of claptrap with nobody knowing what's happening.

Wasn't it always that way?

It’s the wages that have absolutely obliterated us.

we are (apparently) paying Hamza and Ward north of 2.5m a year, each! Vardy north of 7m a year (great as he’s been he’s simply not worth that now and no room for sentimentality), god knows how much we’re paying Okoli, Skipp etc players who we don’t use, probably 6-7m between them. Vestergaad on a packet, we probably overpay by an easy 15-20m a year on wages compared to other teams. It’s one thing if the players wage reflects their value but how on earth is 2.6m a year good value for hamza sodding Choudhury! Over 3 years were probably breaking psr simply on wages and that’s just daft for a team our size with our turnover.

Honestly there's even this level of stupidity at that level. Can't be promoted due to facilities, can't upgrade them due to the council etc

Maguire is very good when looking backwards.

When the financials become public record, he's good at picking through them and explaining to the layman what they - and the relevant laws - mean.

He's less good at the mystic Meg act he's been attempting at the last few years since he became famous.

No club is out there showing him their books before they've had to submit them. He might know some accountants who might gossip a bit but it's something it's impossible to be "in the know" about.

And what gossip he does get, he's said that people inside LCFC are very confident. What "sources" could he possibly have outside the club that know what we've spent?

Absolutely spot on…. He comes to life when the details are revealed, then his expert knowledge helps explain why things have happened.

If he could 100% for-see what was going to happen based on the limited information he has, the bloke would be retired a millionaire sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere….. clubs would be paying millions for him to help them avoid PSR. Being an expert on a field doesn’t give you the ability to read the future 😂

Exactly that , stealing a living with baseless guesswork.

I also feel people are overlooking the fact that, like Chelsea may have got creative with selling hotels to themselves, aswell as KDH, Enzo and other major sales, we may have some significant creative in house and exterior sponsorship money to be included in the offset of losses 🤔🤷‍♂️

Yeah I feel like the parents of Harold Shipman. Super proud of the qualifying as a doctor part but after that....

Or is he more clued up than the so called “experts” as he has links close to the club.

Percy said on Sep 3 that the club were confident those deals would take care of the PSR concerns for the reporting period that just ended, not that those deals definitely did: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/09/03/leicester-points-deduction-win-legal-battle-premier-league/
