Sheffield United lost most games 8-0 last season - Thomas unable to make that defence. Despite that, Their manager still didn't think it a better idea to play Thomas and got rid at Xmas.

How he’s picked that muppet again is more of my issue 1
TheGoldenGod Posted 4 January Posted 4 January Nothing less than a masterclass from Thomas today. Been gifted a start due to illness and lack of options! If not...well terminate the conny cause I'm done being a charity for shite players.

Clarkey123 Posted 4 January Posted 4 January Only rationale is Ruuds expecting villa to come out the blocks and ayew can help mitigate the threat more effectively than buonannotte . Hopefully the games not already gone by the time he comes on. 1

I love Facundo, but my god he gives the ball away so often so i get why away Ruud won't want to play Bilal and Facundo together. There really isn't anyone else to play other than Ayew. I think if Kasey is fit he would have started today. 3

old koppite Posted 4 January Posted 4 January Makes me laugh that some of you lot on here don’t seem to take into account that Ruud has worked with the players all week and probably watched hours of recordings of how Villa play, and he has concluded the line up is the best he can put out to handle them. 2

LCFCCKEANO Posted 4 January Posted 4 January Villa tuck McGinn and send Digne bombing forward so naturally we want Ayew to track him with all that work rate and pace he has over the unfit Buonanotte who barely runs, not like Ayew has cost us multiple goals by not tracking his full back this past month alone 1

Let's hope he's right and nearly everyone on here is wrong. To not play Facundo, when he's been our best player apart from our overworked goalkeeper, is madness

I think that makes it worse, not better. Punters in the stands who do zero research and have zero training know more than him 1 1

Because he's thought it multiple times and every time ayew puts out and absolute stinking performance?

Mickyblueeyes Posted 4 January Posted 4 January I think you’ve got to work with you’ve got. He can’t help that VK is out but his weakest position by some distance is his defence. We do not have any player good enough to play in a back four at this level. Working with you have is recognising that and switching to a back 3 with wing backs. Using Okoli, Faes, Hamza etc. all capable of brain farts but with the extra body to clean up. Working with the what you’ve got is not starting Thomas in a flat back four alongside 3 other out of form players and your second choice keeper. This selection is actually massive for Ruud, I don’t think I’ll go we need him out after this but if it goes wrong, I can completely understand if others lose faith,
