Watching Barnes last night he made a few mistakes but his running and work rate was streets ahead of most of the City players. He deserves the success he is having and the applause from the home fans.

It's weird seeing home fans cheering an away goal, but Harvey deserved it. He was the making of their first goal too.

Did it really happen?

 

I've seen it before when someone scores a worldie but not a 6 yard tap in haha.

 

Guess it just shows the complete apathy of the fanbase

I understand a screamer under certain circumstances, but to be clapping when we're in this mess is disgusting 

 

So glad I'm staying away, I couldn't handle seeing that in person.

I thought the applause was for his reaction to scoring by not celebrating, not because he scored.

Seriously?  A local home grown lad, playing well for his club.  Nowt wrong with clapping anyone, especially Barnes who didn't leave for the dollar.  He came over our end to take a corner he got clapped by  most people.  He, in turn clapped back.

I love Barnes and I'm happy to see him doing well there, never wanted him to leave. But that goal put us 3-0 down at home in the first half. There should be season tickets flying on to the pitch and Rudkin/Top out chants not applauding the opposition

The state of things…… you’ve hit rock bottom when you’re clapping a former players goal. I’m with you completely, I love the lad, but **** me, clapping his goal that puts us 3-0 down? The flasks of soup should have been thrown into the pitch!

Nah, it showed the current crop of s**t exactly what we think of them.... and unless you were there you might miss the context it was done in.

As some have already said, a bit of context is needed.

 

Harvey Barnes was a Leicester lad and was a very popular player who had been at the club all his life.   He never agitated to leave (unlike some) or deliberately run down his contract ... but was sold to raise money because of other people's incompetence.   Like Matt Piper being sold to Sunderland after we were relegated and in need of £.

 

He was totally respectful after he scored.  None of this cupping hands behind ears, clenched fists, or silly dancing in front of the corner flag.    I think that's what the applause was more about, and also a message to the other useless City players ... that's the type of player we respect.

For the last time no one clapped his goal,it's because  his non celebration that got clapped,so what if fans sung his name I'd rather sing his name then any,of our  lazy can't be bothered to run or put no effort in players. I'd have him back in a heartbeat

Harvey was one of the decent players when he left, didn’t leave for the money.. as others have said the goal wasn’t clapped, but his respect to the home fans deserved something. And yes, I’m the first to admit I was chanting his name.. why? Because if he ever came back to Leicester I’d be over the moon. 
I and like many others are getting so fed up of these millionaire footballers putting in a half hearted, can’t be arsed performance every week. We work hard all week in our shitty retail,  9-5 and shift work jobs. Is it too much to ask for them to put in some kind of effort for 90 mins? It’s sad to say that some look forward to the weekend to attend the games, and quite often at the moment in the first 45 mins then the wrong kind of emotions are often shown.. 
So for all that keep slagging off for applauding a former player because it may be woke nonsense and all that. Just in that moment there was a little joy to be had..

It being a **** you to the club to celebrate his goal would only work if they actually piped up against Aiyawatt or Rudkin at any point. In reality it was just one of those classy touch incidents which we could do with less of.

 

For what it's worth, as somebody viciously anti not celebrating, I do think that was a rare moment of it being slightly more acceptable. They'd already won the game anyway, he was forced out due to the incompetent idiots at the club and scoring past our lot is barely an achievement anyway. Like Lewis Hamilton celebrating getting into his car. It wasn't one of those goals that would've brought a mad celebration anyway. That one felt fairly genuine for me.
