I expect he'll be in the squad next year but it's a big step up again and expecting him to be one of our starting CMs week in week out seems naive.

Just posted in the other thread, its easy to forget that last time out in League One, Kingy had massively established pros Clemence and Oakley in the middle of the park who were both far too good for League One at the time.

Maaaaybbeeeee Skipp does a part of that job for us but even if he stays and he's pretty good as a player in League One he definitely doesn't strike me as a leader on the pitch. If Sammy is going to have any impact next year he'll need hella support. Ain't gonna be JJ, is it?

Clemence didn't play in League One did he? Don't think he played for us again after we got relegated.

League Two to League One isn't a massive step up really anyway.

I think he was injured all season.

If we do drop down to League 1 pretty sure Rudkin will get rid of players like Monga, Page and Nelson when we should really be starting building the team around them next season.

Bring in Fuchs as manager and keep the above we may have some chance of rebuilding.

Obviously Top selling up would be the best scenario

If he were to leave would it be on a free / for a nominal fee? I don't think he can be properly under contract until he turns 18 (may be wrong!).

Tbh I've not seen what the fuss is about, but presumably people who know what potential looks like can see it in him.

The way it was reported, came across as if it was agreed his scholarship would turn to a pro deal when he turns 17.

If I'm jeremy monga, I would be waiting for dortmund come in, do everything to get out there. He will have an opportunity to start in the bundesliga, play champions league and be away from the english press, and he won't be bench warming at arsenal and man city. He deserves so much better than to be playing league one football.

Yep, in order to starve off FFP we'll have to sell them as pure profit, can just see it now. The older squad members and those on big £ won't want to leave for nothing so we'll have to pay in order to get rid of them or sell them for very cheap.

What a mess.

Seems his 17th birthday is on 10 July.

Guess that gives him plenty of scope to agree a move before his pro deal kicks in.

I'm not sure the rules, but can't he be pinched for a pittance before he joins on a pro deal?

He's agreed to a pro deal though, so I'm guessing he's contractually obliged to do that

Agree with the 1st part but how so for the ending?

Germany does seem to be a good place for young players, away from home town fan pressure, media, creates independence which in turn models character then on the playing side probably not as physically demanding allowing talents to mature.

The last sentence not so sure that he ‘deserves’ so much better than Lge 1 as, and through no real fault of his own, he’s done nothing & that’s because he’s 16.

I’m all for fast tracking someone but they have to have really shown they can compete, I mean people on here saying Sammy Braybrooke now ready for Lge 1 after a stint in Lge 2 yet he could comfortably hold his own in the championship by now for sure. That’s to say Braybrooke is currently more established than Monga.

Monga could be wise to stick with us play the LW for a full season week in week out he’ll probably get to where a lot seem to think he is going a lot quicker than a season with an elite academy then a few seasons on loan before being sold because that elite team buy the next big thing and blocks his path.

You can’t sign a pro contract until you’re 17, so we’ll see in July.

"It’s also important to know that your child cannot be offered a professional contract until their U16 year or enter into one until they are 17 years old."

This is from the Premier League website as an example, which to me reads that he can agree to sign a pro deal but he just can't actually be under that contract until 17

Personal opinion but I think we've been silly as ever and his pro contract will be agreed, he'll be with us and he'll be on a heck of a lot

He needs a season of first team football.  Probably League One level.  I have visions of him leaving us in the summer and then being loaned back to us where we'll figure out that actually he's quite good and we should have given him more game time this season.

He'll also probably sign a more lucrative deal with his next club and when he's loaned back to us, we'll probably agree to pay his wages.
