A Call for Change: A Footballing Reset at Leicester City Football Club

The whole thing has brought attention to what we've witnessed for years to the mainstream. 

 

I think if that was the aim, it was successful. It will pile more pressure on the board to initiate change from a different side, not just grumpy fans. Whether it works is another matter. It didn't get violent and silly, so I think it was good thing that happened. 

 

The 14th minute thing was hard as the team was doing okay and putting the effort in at the time.

 

Fair play to the organisers of this.

Making a deal with an illegal betting company? What’s that? And it’s been reported by reputable sources that Whelan and Rudkin down speak to one another…. So the clubs functioning exceptionally well? 
 

The club hasn’t just been poorly ran on player recruitment alone, that is but a fraction of the problem….. the club is completely being mismanaged from top to bottom, and this is being backed up by PSR breaches…. Which happened, we got off that on a technicality thanks to the PL’s written rules. 
 

King power 100% have skeletons in their closet…. It would be extremely naive to think they haven’t…..

There are many of us who have been supporting the club for years who recognise that - though this is a tough season - the club is in a relatively healthy state.

 

This targeting of Rudkin in particular is ridiculous, given that not one of you know who is responsible for what at the club.

Pleased there were good numbers putting the point of view across that so many are feeling. Not interested in this I’m a better fan than you nonsense. Everyone of course is entitled to their opinion, but the assertion that the club is in a relatively healthy state is a wild statement to anyone either side of the debate! 
 

The money wasted on substandard players on ridiculous wages, the deviation away from what made us successful in the first place, the fact that despite selling hundreds of millions of pounds worth of players in the last decade, we find ourselves making multi million pound losses every year - the reason now that we cannot strengthen a weak and underprepared squad. The lack of communication or accountability from anyone at the club about the needless mistakes that have been made over the last 4-5 years, and the lack of vision and strategy for the future. 
 

There is no denying we have had the most successful period in our history under this ownership, and yes they have more than played their part, plus what they have done in donating to local charities. However that does not give them a free pass for what is happening now. Rudkin is a big problem, but not the only one clearly. We do need a new sporting director/director of football, but there needs to be a change in thinking at the top as well. The majority of City fans do not expect to be a top 6 club, we do however have the right to expect the club to be run properly. 
 

Whether these protests have any impact remains to be seen, but the fact some of the spotlight is now on the hierarchy about the mistakes that are being made can only be a good thing.

I didn’t mention the recent window. I was replying about PSR. Which other clubs are in constant PSR bother due to constant recruitment **** ups, both incomings, contracts and not managing outgoings?

We've had coverage on a number of outlets this weekend. The Spurs stuff - yes, they're a bigger club - but they've also been banging the drum for a long period of time now. Just shows the importance of keeping up the pressure rather than making this a one-and-done.

Most fans aren’t bother by the fact we aren’t top 6, more the fact we have no fallen light years behind the likes of Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham etc.

 

The club has a haphazard attitude to transfers signing Souttar, Coady, Skipp, Cannon with no clear vision for them in the squad, signing older players like Ayew and BCR with no real clue how we are going to use them, not filling clearly poor areas of the pitch with new players ‘defence’, wasting 250million on players who left for free! High wages for average players, long contracts for average players.

You’re not taking notice of the argument - the argument is that we are still a Premier League/top of the Championship side so there doesn’t need to be any blame at this stage as we have been much worse than this for many years of our history. Once we lost so much quality after the first relegation it was obvious that the best we could hope for in the short term is a yo-yo team with the hope that we can eventually build up a team that can compete higher up.

The protest against City’s hierarchy definitely made a dent. It was a pretty big talking point in the build-up to the game, while it received coverage during TNT Sports’ live broadcast and in the Match of the Day highlights.

But it may not be enough to prompt change. As a one-off, it might be easy to ignore. If the organisers and disgruntled fans want their voices to be listened to and their requests to be met, their protests may need to be consistent, and to grow in volume.

Right now, a clean sheet feels closer than the publication of the internal review.
