Surprised that it took so long for Dawn French to remove that appalling video. Shameful on the back of other celebrities making similar mistakes. Not sure if this apology is going to be enough. M&S will be deciding if they want their brand associated with her.

BBC News - Dawn French says sorry for posting 'one-sided' Gaza video

Dreading what's going to be said by some of the Glastonbury performers.

MP Rosie Duffield commented on Oberman's post, writing: "One can, and should hate what is happening in Gaza and also condemn the hideous events of October 7th.

"It is agonising to see events unfold, and requires extremely careful, measured and well-considered comments and actions. This is not that."

Well, without unbiased commentary coming out of Gaza, thanks to political interference and restrictions by both sides, it's really hard to put together an unbiased report.

The problem with walking the middle ground is that you become a target for both sides.

The Nazi did this with the Brownshirts until they realised they needed to be a bit more subtle and 'normal' to get elected so killed off the Brownshirts leaders in the Night of the Long Knives and replaced him with Himmler / Goring if I remember.

I'm waiting to see how far they can sink and move towards a watered down Nazism by the end of his term.

I never thought you were that old... :nigel:

Dawn French, a former "celebrity" (always overshadowed by Jennifer Saunders) makes a statement that should not have been posted. She comes across as ignorant but, is she wrong?

Tracey Ann Oberman, herself Jewish, is bound to have an opposite opinion. And be supportive of the actions of the IDF and Nethanyu. Is she wrong?

I believe so.

Unfortunately there's going to be plenty said by other minor artists at Glasto and elsewhere, trying to make a mark in the media.

The bolded bit is a wild thing to say.

Do you actually mean to suggest all Jews support their spiritual homeland wiping out the whole of Palestine in their name? Because if you do I'm sure that you are wrong.

I'm certain there are many Jews and Israelis who are appalled by what Netanyahu is doing.

"No, no, Zia, mate... you're one of the good ones, OK?"

There were loads of Middle Englanders on his resignation tweet lapping it up that 'one of them' were out of the party.

Wonder how they feel now lol

As he's clearly an intelligent man, I've no idea why Mr Yusuf would think that such people would hold him in any kind of regard no matter what he did or does for their cause.

Because saying some hurty words at a music festival is clearly equivalent to slaughtering 50000+ kids and starving even more..

Not all, but I'd say the majority.

And one rarely hears anyone from the Jewish community saying they don't.

All getting a bit nasty in LA, it would seem. The ICE goon squad is finally getting some pushback.

I wonder if Trump will pardon them all once they've been convicted and jailed.:nono::teehee:

I’d say it’s straight ignorance but seems like it’s predicated on Islamophobia.  she can be ignorant of other faiths but to refer to him a Muslim surely shows her phobia out loud.

I thought it was founded on religious freedom and to worship who you want without Monarch or government interference.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects fundamental freedoms, including freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. It was ratified in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights.
