I think that there are world actors as nasty as them who also have a reason to cause her harm, but they haven't done so (as yet).

I do know what you mean though, and I truly hope that Miss Thunberg stays safe.

There’s 12 of them who are the epitome of ‘woke’, the nasty lot would love nothing less than seeing them sunk. Did you see Lindsey Graham’s threat, the maniac?

Arron Banks made a similar threat a while back, too.

Tried to pass it off as a "joke" when he got called out on it, but...

Obviously the IDF have intercepted the Greta boat.  Really not sure what they are trying to accomplish to be honest but wouldn't wish them to come to any harm.

Would have been a massive PR disaster had the IDF stormed the boat and killed Greta. Would letting one boat that has no weapons or explosives or anything else through to Gaza really be that bad!. What does Israel achieve by stopping a peace boat reaching Gaza. It just shows the world how cruel they are that they are collectively punishing an entire race for the crimes of Hamas!. Didn't someone else do that in the 1940s!.

As the occupying force they would be responsible for the safety of anyone they allowed in, so no chance they were about to let that boat through.  There has been a naval blockade for a long time.

I wonder if California would ever secede from the USA?

Would be hilarious if Trump's administration ended with 49 states, instead of his much touted 51st.

I think that firstly, if that were to happen, there would be more than one to secede, and secondly, it would result in a civil war as it did the last time.

...  with multiple war crimes being committed by the Trump administration....   which will be ignored completely by the wider international community.

Any comparison with ongoing conflict is purely coincidental-  this post is a work of fiction.

I think that Trump's "side" would lose, as they did about 160 years ago.

I would think that she's secretly relived. Wouldn't fancy her chances if they did reach the Gaza shores. More hostages.

Unfortunately I fear the opposite. Trump would have the federal state and its military on his side. Plus some of the tech bros would side with him.

I don't think the IDF ‘do’ safety do they? At least they did n’t repeat their lethal 2010 assault on the Turkish aid ship.

I fail to see where such a move would aid the Gazan cause either tactically or strategically.

It would come down to what the military chose to do, I reckon. And that would be a straight choice between the oath to follow an order from the commander in chief of the Armed Forces, and the oath to not follow or simply refuse an order that is known to violate the Geneva Conventions.

That would likely result in a split within the military, or possibly active neutrality.

Surely you control what you can control

allowing them in would be a ‘wild card’. The aid was effectively symbolic in volume and the Israelis say it will be forwarded on (who knows but it surely gets ‘lost’ as less than a truck )

having a small group of westerners in Gaza just complicates things as discussed last week re journalists.

Absolutely, which is a big reason why the Israelis were always going to stop it.

My point was that there would be absolutely zero utility in those folks being taken hostage should they have made it to Gaza.

Just seen the video of the Oz reporter being shot at by LAPD. Fvcking coward shooting at her if he's purposely aimed at her for no reason at all.

It’s shocking isn’t it was doing nothing wrong at all and just aimed at her for no reason.

Vittorio Arrigoni might disagree with you if he was still with us.   even more lawless there now than back then.

... or he might understand the distinction between the governance of Gaza now and a bunch of hard-line Salafist militants (who even Hamas at the time tried to keep in check when he was taken).

my point is that it’s not just Hamas in Gaza and once in there who knows where they might end up.  And if you were a big Hamas target then you’d make sure that some of the group were accompanying you to allow you to move freely around.   It’s just too complex for Israel to allow - they knew they wouldn’t be permitted to land in Gaza.

The governance of Gaza now is pretty fluid with Hamas having lost some control, especially in the Rafa and east Kahn younis areas. It wasn’t in sept 2023 compared to 2011 as you say.

Yeah, no disagreement there about the lack of control.

I stand my point that taking them hostage would serve whoever did it no useful purpose whatsoever though.

Who knew Trump wouldn't start a war with any country but rather his own. Absolute madness and criminal.

As an American, regardless of how you feel about the left, Biden , Kamala or immigration this should wake you up to demand change. This is frightening stuff. It might suit your narrative now but long term it will sting you right in the penis hole.
