The fee for Bilal was agree last season when we were a championship club, as part of his loan deal.

 

So had nothing to do with our league 1 status.

Wasn’t it an obligation to buy? Or an option? Either way I feel you’re correct, but he’s was our most valuable asset I would say. Now, who is? We will have to sell a combination of youngsters to build any finances. But without Top injecting money into the club, I can’t see how it will actually benefit us.

Normal with a option or obligation the fee is set up front at the start of the loan.

 

The main benefits it will book profit in this season accounts.

 

On the face of it we have sold him largely for what we paid for him, however due to the way amortisation works it will show as a profit in this coming season accounts.

 

We brought him for roughly 20m, on a 4 year contact, two seasons later we have sold him. 10m of his original transfer fee would have been amortised in those two accounting periods leave 10m left.

 

So for this season account we will book a 20m income, vs a 10m book value, result in an accounting profit of 10m for this coming season accounting period

Looked bang average for 70% of the games I've seen him in including for us. He was a player that gave you a bit of a boost when he got the ball because it always felt like he could maybe spark something, most of the time he ended up producing nothing. Obviously he's not expected to be putting in 8.5s against the likes of France/Netherlands, but his only good performances came against smaller teams, Brazil being the outlier yet they were awful all tournament. 

We bought him for a fair price, sold him for a fair price, can't see him going on to become the player he has the capacity to become. Another player who "on his day" in great, but his day comes once every 8 games.

When I saw Bilal for the first time, Everton I think it was IIRC, my sixth sense told me he wasn't that special as the hype had suggested and I still stand by that.

I agree.

 

I think he stood out more as we were just devoid of any sort of creativity, flair and semi decent forward thinking technical ability, he stood out. 
 

Drop him in amongst Praet, Tielemans, Perez, Maddison, Barnes, Akgun etc and he would not get a sniff of a start.

El Khannouss is (and will be) a better player than Praet, Perez and Akgun. By miles.

I don’t think he will. 
 

Perez for example has an FA Cup, Community Shield, European Cup with Spain, plus a decent goals return once he went back to La Liga.

 

Akgun has already won various titles. 

 

El Khannous is a good game in 8 and I’ll stand by the fact he’s no better than the likes of Alex Scott, Jacob Ramsey, Gustavo Hamer, Callum O’Hare etc. Good in games with a highlight reel that looks decent. 
 

He didn’t set the world alight at Premier League level and I don’t think he will in the future.

Game of opinions, he's had a brilliant season in the Bundesliga and he's 22. Big clubs are sniffing. He'll only get better.
