At this point i'm fed up with most of the squad so i'm honestly down to get rid of the majority of them and just give the promising academy players all the playing time next season as a way to see who's good enough and just reset the club a bit

I know it’s doom and gloom, and we might end up with a points deduction, if it’s not too harsh, Big Danny can get a squad with this quality into the playoffs.

It's a terrible league and to be honest even with these crooks in charge I still think we'd have to really fumble it to finish outside of the top six - but you never know.

 

Think Ipswich will likely walk it. Southampton will probably get 2nd. Think Birmingham will be pushing towards the upper end as well. Whoever misses out of Burnley/Sunderland too invariably.

 

The away games have more variety - I'll give it that.

I think you can add Ricardo, Ndidi and Coady to that squad too. Don’t think we’ll receive a big enough offer to sell them. 
Wouldn’t be surprised if Vardy stayed around too. 
It’s a more than good enough squad, especially with a couple of additions to be challenging up near the top. Take off the relegated teams each season in the Championship and there really isn’t much else.

I see it like this.

 

I’m not convinced we’ll spend a load in an effort to get back up. We’ll spend another year stabilising the finances and utilise the younger players as squad / backup. 

 

We can again trim the wage bill for next season as I believe that Iversen, Ward and Vardy leave on free transfers. That alone generates / saves nearly £8m per annum in wages. We don’t need 4 goalkeepers. 

 

We’ve sent a large number of our academy players out on loan to gain football league experience. This will give us an indication on who is, then who isn’t ready to make the next step into life in the championship next season. 
 

Alves, Braybrooke, Cover, Young, Nelson, Marçal, Raikhy, Opuku, Popov, Ewing, Wilson-Brown, will now all have played football away from the club this season. If they don’t make the grade, we sell to a an adequate standard then move on. 

 

I believe Monga leaves as soon as he is 16 in July. 
 

With the likes of, Choudhury, Thomas and McAteer still at the club, we’ll also have people to come back in as backup players. Who will be on less than people who have had massive moves to join us. 
 

 

We’ll use the youth players as backup, rather than buying players. 
 

Hermansen, Soumare, Ndidi, Coady, Kristiansen, Faes, Okoli, Winks, Justin and and maybe even Skipp are sold, to generate further funds. I see that we might keep El Khannous, as apparently his wages aren’t massive and his value will only increase.

 

Fatawu stays as he’s fresh off an injury. Could be go next Jan? Maybe. 

 

The squad I believe will look something like this.

 

GK - Stolarkzyk, Young, Bausor

 

LB - Thomas, Justin

RB - Coulibaly, Ricardo

CB - Vestergaard, Nelson, Souttar, Wilson-Brown

 

CM - El Khannous, Cartwright, Ewing, Golding, 
RM - Mavididi, McAteer

LM - Fatawu, Alves, 

 

FW - Reid, Ayew, Daka, Opuku

 

The reality is that a first XI could be semi decent, we get injuries and we’ll be struggling. Mass clear out of the high earners in a squad that is bloated with average players is required though. It’s just going to be a bit painful.

Unfortunately for me, I think we stay down for 2 or 3 seasons. Just hope if we do we can carry the weight of the financial loss of EPL money, which I doubt we can.

 

But, we will have to use it as an opportunity to get rid of all the high earners, deadwood and players that don't want to be here and go back to finding gems and blooding the youth, and learn from our mistakes of recent years

A lot will come down to who we can shift at the end of the season.

 

Mads and Bilal the two players who have quality and are saleable.

 

Okoli, Faes, Ndiddi, Soumane - I can possibly see some interest.

 

Vardy, Ward, Iverson out of contract (Iverson might stay but I can’t see him wanting to be a back-up keeper).

 

So a lot of players who are clearly not the future - Vesty, Coady, Ayew, Hamza, BDR, Daka etc.  

 

there is a lot of youth coming through but a lot is unproven - you can also only really play it if we free up space in the squad.  We need to get down to a squad of about 20 players.

2% based on what? There's really no facts to work with other than that we have incompetence and malaise ingrained throughout the club. We'd have to see what players we have and what manager we have.

Given the PSR concerns you have to genuinely be worried about our ability to be active in the transfer market in the summer - and then there's the potential for the EFL to place us under an embargo.

 

Still lots of deadwood to try and get rid of which, as ever, will be a massive challenge for our recruitment team / DofF
