For those clutching at straws (like me) Pompey have quite a tough run-in (except for the game on the 18th of course)

It means nothing when we can only draw games against the worst the Championship has to offer.

It’s all about ifs. Personally I can’t see Portsmouth getting more than 4 more points. Oxford 7 sadly Leicester 4.

I have been saying for weeks it’s Oxford that  are for me the more likely to get out of it.

Exactly. They have some comfortable fixtures coming up.  A few games ago it looked fairly even. But we have frittered away our last few without winning. Oxford have stayed level and will show us how it is done against Watford and Sheffield Wednesday…

3pts from Charlton, Oxford, QPR, Watford, Preston and Wednesday fixtures.

Jesus wept.

Only 10 in total from the possible 36 home and away too.

Agreed. Feels futile looking at other teams' fixtures knowing we wouldn't capitalise anyway.

The only thing that I think could save us now is, if our lawyers managed to get our points deduction reduced or get them removed altogether and even then we find a way to still get relegated!

Yeah but 3 of them points for Portsmouth will probably come against us.

Still think it'll be Wednesday, Oxford and Pompey. You'll need to do us a favour and beat Millwall.

lol more chance the game against Millwall actually finishes 3-0 to them by virtue of a forfeit from our pathetic bunch being too scared to take to the pitch than us beating them!

Oxford have got this comfortably. Look at their fixtures. It’ll be mathematically don’t by the penultimate game of the season.

Oxford are crap though. Proper crap. Not just going through the motions. I think you're panicking unnecessarily. Yes, they have easier fixtures but they had one yesterday and only managed a point.

That said, they managed to beat us 2-1 at the Kassam earlier in the season. Back when we were equally terrible.

Will probably beat my lot and Sheffield W though .

Think it will be Portsmouth and another .

Hopefully won’t be Leicester for these guys sake !

Panicking unnecessarily. Have you watched us? We are an absolute stain on this league.

If we were going to win another game this season it’d have been over this weekend, with Preston gifting us 2 goals and Wednesday being…well Wednesday.

5 games left and I reckon we’ll draw 4 and lose to Millwall.

Oxford have Wednesday and home and Watford. Our resident Watford visitor @Super_hornshas already apologised in advance for the win Oxford will pick up against them given they are well and truly on the beach now.

Edit - right on cue above my post as I was saying lol

Portsmouth will stay up they have the quality even when they were 10 men down they looked the far better team than Oxford.

They will beat us at home and that will be enough for them to stay ahead us for the remainder of the season and I think they will just pip Oxford.

We are just rank , and have been all season we don’t have the fight to win games by the scruff of our neck other teams players are happy to play us and must think being a Leicester player is an easy job! Getting rewarded for constant failure…

yeah, watched you draw 1-1 with us at PR a few weeks ago. Fully justified draw with neither of us playing that well enough to win it. Also saw the three you nabbed against us at KP earlier in the season. That was a depressing, Keystone Cops calamity of an away performance.

We're currently second. You'd never believe that if you saw us. That's what I mean. Quality gets you a bit of a cheat code in this league. That and luck. You were all over Wednesday yesterday and should've won 5-1. Keep going with that mindset and you'll be fine.

To be fair, the performances against you have been about as good as it has got, home and away.

I don’t buy this 5-1 yesterday. To be fair, I pretty quickly stopped watching after about 10 minutes and went to the park with my daughter. A much better use of a sunny bank holiday Monday. But having seen the chances, there’s nothing really there that you wouldn’t expect a decent goalie to save from Charles.

The issue is the owner, players, manager and majority of the fans have all checked out mentally and just want the summer to come and forget this season. Nobody’s up for the fight any more.

Feel free to pop back on here May 2nd. In the last few weeks, the arguments for thinking we will stay up have gone from expectation, with some favourable games ahead, to hope as these games pass us by without taking advantage and now we are purely at the denial stage being the only reason to think we can survive.

Big ups to the three Leicester fans I met in the Cricketers before the PR game - we had a good chat about how expectations can often exceed reality. They were realistic but there's always hope.

They blamed Top and Rudkin and the mess they made of the PL and relegation, and the points deduction. It was hard to argue with that, not that I tried. Just sad how a once great club is being put through the wringer. That said, I'll pop back on May 2nd to congratulate you on survival. Nothing I've seen points to anything else, and though a draw with us is no great barometer of likely success, I still feel you'll be OK.

I think all signs point towards the 3 former Milan Mandaric sides going down together in the season he passed. Feels like one of those weird coincidences.

The people you spoke to are correct. Unfortunately the fan base has been cultivated and back Aiyawatt unconditionally. As such, there hasn’t been any holding the owner and DoF to account like you’d see at pretty much any other club, including your beloved neighbours to the north in Norfolk. Just feels the club is exhausted and broken. Even a fluke survival in the coming weeks only delays the inevitable next time.

Anyway, you might have your own things to celebrate come the 2nd May!

Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda.

We also should’ve beat Preston on Friday - similar amount of shots, 4x the amount of shots on target compared to them. A big problem for these players is the moment we concede a goal they look absolutely clueless, the panic instantly sets in.

The mindset is exactly what’s wrong with a lot of our players at this club. They’re on big money, most of them have massive experience of playing in the top flight. They think they’re above it and the biggest problem of it all is that they’ve not got the heart for the battle, the nitty gritty.

Yesterday we had players starting for us that have won the FA Cup, played in a champions league final, played in a European semi final. Players that have won this division just 2 years ago, and didn’t just win it absolutely walked it and played most of the games at around 65%. At the start of the season you look at teams on paper and there isn’t many players from the top 6 sides you would’ve thought would get in our side.

You full well know that come the start of this summer a number of these players will be moving on, either abroad at a higher level or in the case of maybe 1/2 back to the prem. There’s a lot of them that simply don’t care enough.

I can’t half blame Ayew for doing this, but as soon as the final whistle went yesterday he took his shirt straight off and walked down the tunnel. Of course his performances haven’t been acceptable and I think sometimes the criticism has been a bit ott - but that’s the stuff we are dealing with. And it’s not just been this season things haven’t been right since 2023.

We were lucky in the sense that getting relegated first time around the players we had were simply too good as well as unearthing Hermansen and Fatawu - and that’s what got us through a lot of games, along with one of the best managers we’ve had.

It’s a sad state of affairs that 10 years to the day of the greatest achievement football has arguably ever seen, could see us hit our lowest ever point in football.

Ultimately, if we go down the 6 points we’ve been deducted will be the decisive factor and that solely will lie on the people that are running the club. Of course the players should and could do better, we should never be in this position with a points deduction.

Appreciate the sentiment but a bit of a misread to say that to a bunch of fans that are watching their club in total capitulation, failing to beat the worst team in the history of this league whilst marooned in the relegation zone with 5 games to go.

Ironically, if a bunch of our fans understand the situation and had actually been panicking like most on here, we probably wouldn't be in this position.

Appreciate your optimism but you’re in the minority here. We deserve to go down and Oxford and Pompey don’t (obviously one of them has to) I know football doesn’t work like that but both of them are fighting in every game and we quite simply aren’t. Our players don’t give a crap and it shows, every single one of them deserves a big fat ‘relegated to L1’ stain on their careers.

Oxford have 3 wins and 3 draws in their last 7 games, taking 12 points. Only lost to in form Southampton.

Leicester have not achieved 12 points in the whole of 2026.

Oxford will be the team that stays up imo, unless Pompey pull a rabbit out of a hat. They’ve got Sheff Weds at home, they’ll win that easily.

That means they’ll only need to find 4 more points from Watford, Derby, Wrexham and Millwall. They also play Millwall on the final day, who will no doubt be rotating players for the playoffs.

Not a chance in current form Leicester get more than 6 points.

5  games ago it was 2 to be relegated from 5, now, with 5 games to go it looks like 2 from 3.  WBA and Blackburn likely not to be caught after picking up 9 and 8 points in those previous 5.

Us and Oxford both have six points from the previous 5, Portsmouth just 2.  Oxford probably have the easiest run in, accepting that there are no "easy" games.  They also don't play anyone in the relegation scrap ( they do have Sheff W) so they just go and do what they do and see what they end up with.  Can they score more points than us from the next 5?  They need to because of the goal difference, but it's definitely possible.

Portsmouth need to start picking up points quickly.  They're sinking but even with horrible form, they have a lifeline with a home game against us.  If they win that, I think they'll finish above us, any other result, I think we outscore their points total from the other fixtures.

So, don't lose to Portsmouth and match Oxford's results and we'll scrape it.  How on earth has it come to this???

It’s a sad state of affairs that 10 years to the day of the greatest achievement football has arguably ever seen, could see us hit our lowest ever point in football.

That Prem season has completely deflated us. We were awful. Even compared to Burnley, Wolves and the Hammers/Spurs this time around, we'd have done a Saints and probably surpassed the lowest total. That's what we fear going up again, that somehow a lot of these players will be required to 'represent' us in the Premier and we've not bought well.

You're right about the quality you possess, which makes it all the more difficult to really understand why you're struggling. We've got no-one I'd see in your starting line-up, yet perversely we play as a team. Take McAteer yesterday. The groans when he was announced were audible, yet he played a blinder. Not £12 million's worth of a blinder but he looked a lot better than he has recently. I'd be after Fatawu and JJ from you if we do go up. Top quality and we need better in midfield. I know JJ's on loan but the owning club can't fancy him.

We've torn up our previous Championship promotion team and kept a lot of the players who failed so miserably in the Premier League and it's sort of worked. I do think a lot of that is on McKenna, yet some of our fans think he's come to the end of his ability and wouldn't mind a change of manager!
