That Prem season has completely deflated us. We were awful. Even compared to Burnley, Wolves and the Hammers/Spurs this time around, we'd have done a Saints and probably surpassed the lowest total. That's what we fear going up again, that somehow a lot of these players will be required to 'represent' us in the Premier and we've not bought well.

You're right about the quality you possess, which makes it all the more difficult to really understand why you're struggling. We've got no-one I'd see in your starting line-up, yet perversely we play as a team. Take McAteer yesterday. The groans when he was announced were audible, yet he played a blinder. Not £12 million's worth of a blinder but he looked a lot better than he has recently. I'd be after Fatawu and JJ from you if we do go up. Top quality and we need better in midfield. I know JJ's on loan but the owning club can't fancy him.

We've torn up our previous Championship promotion team and kept a lot of the players who failed so miserably in the Premier League and it's sort of worked. I do think a lot of that is on McKenna, yet some of our fans think he's come to the end of his ability and wouldn't mind a change of manager!

On his day, Fatawu starts most weeks in the prem for most teams apart from “the big 5”

and Villa. Even if we stay up I would be very surprised to see JJ stay with us, unless the terms of his loan deal is mandatory. We’ve missed him big time whilst he’s been injured.

We were absolutely rubbing our hands and laughing our heads off at £12m for McAteer. A likeable lad with a fantastic work rate, but again someone that was living off a purple patch in 23/24.

We need 6 points from Swansea and Portsmouth. Blackburn on the final day will be too late.

Have to hope Millwall and Hull already are in play off places, and in Millwalls case not still challenging for top 2.

Hull aren’t in the best of form, so no doubt Rowett sets up to draw. Millwall are going to rip us a new one.

Said it a few times but going down any season is obviously dreadful but to get relegated from such a low quality league is utterly embarrassing.

And to be the closest team to Sheff Weds is horrifically embarrassing. No disrespect to them as they've been dealt a rough hand, but a squad like ours should not be finishing anywhere near 23rd.

Needed 6 pts from the last 2 games and look what we got .The next 2 will be no different, we're  ****ed ,end of.

If you're a Pompey fan and you are looking at your next four games, its not pretty reading on paper. Boro, Ipswich and Cov - with a 6 pointer with us sandwiched in. Its a tough run. If they manage to get 6 points from those 4, they deserve to stay up.

We gets me is how f4cking big everyone seems to be. Against Preston we were joking that each sub was 'big a55hole off for an even bigger a55hole', whilst our fans shoult 'Whoooo?', as if Caleb Okoli or Harry Winks are players to be proud of, just because we have heard of them.

We seem to have paid top dollar for a team of midgets, who arent physical and cant jump. Watch Sheffields first goal - we have 3 players around the player that won the header!

This is it, just look at how many teams have pulled themselves away from it this year after looking truly dreadful. Norwich, Southampton, Sheff Utd, QPR, even West Brom and Blackburn have almost done enough in 3/4 weeks.

I reckon we needed to be at 50% this year to comfortably stay up with a 6 point deduction. We're watching the absolute pits of player application, commitment and effort. It was genuinely harder to get relegated than stay up in this league.

When that Sheff Wed goal went in you just had to laugh, it was so obvious it would happen. The worst thing in all of this is the entire fanbase should be absolutely fuming...and they're not.

Have they left it too late to pinch that 2nd spot?

Yeah. Playoffs they'll get to, but way too late for automatic. I think Ipswich will finish 2nd

I’d have him at Newcastle as I think he fits exactly what we need…

Young, ability to grow/improve, can create a goal out of nothing (something we severely lack), wouldn’t demand huge wages, also likely to be very cheap in comparison to his value if you go down.

A bit of an opportunist buy, like Barnes was.

Out of interest, what do you perceive his value to be?

Look how they were earlier in the season worse position to us. They sacked the manager and got a new one in quick while we messed around. Offloaded Aribo to us and they went and got Larin in as a striker

Depends on relegation. The record sale from League One is what, £10m? Knowing that, the fact he’d probably want to agitate for the move and your financial position… £12m-£15m?

Assuming you stay up I’d add an extra c.£5m on that.

Transfermarkt (although not a science) has his value at £20m so seems to stack up.

£10 million is a drop in the ocean in our situation. Still think we'd get nearer £20 million even in league 1.

Despite that, he's hardly someone who I'd count on for a team supposedly with ambitions of pushing for European places.

2 teams who came down with us have a strong shout to go up. Meanwhile we promote the bloke who has seen us hot the bottom 3
