Should Millwall and Boro both lose, then a draw will be enough for Coventry to seal their return to the Premier League tomorrow 😔

Can't believe they haven't been a top flight club over 20 years. Their fans have truly been on a rollercoaster, less than a decade ago they were in the fourth tier.

The comparisons of x club were here when we were winning the league or FA Cup are getting a bit tiresome in some ways but the examples of endless.

Winning the league whilst they were in L1 and about to be relegated to L2 to being 2 leagues behind them…

Wrexham and Stockport battling it out in non-league whilst we were winning the FA Cup 5 years ago to being 1, maybe 2 leagues behind Wrexham and either in the same league or a league below Stockport. Lincoln being non-league when we won the league and being in the league below them….

if I've done the maths right: 9 divisions ahead of Harborough Town in 2021 when we won the fa cup down to 3 divisions ahead next season...

Not really arsed about what Cov do, they’ll find it difficult next season and more than likely come back down again. Not sure they have any legs to stand on goading us though but it’s to be expected. I think that’s why they don’t bother me, they’re pretty insignificant despite more than likely being Championship champions, they’re just doing better than us at the moment.

We played Stockport in League One 18 years ago, they got relegated that season (or soon after) while we went up, by the time we got promoted to the Premier League they were relegated as low down as Conference North but since rose all the way back to League One. We are now on the verge of relegation to the same division again (if they don't go up).

Had to laugh the other season when we played them in the Cup, as we were heading back to the train after the game a group of their fans shouted "Premier League you're having a laugh".... oh tell me about it...

Be interesting who they sign after promotion but Doug King talking about wanting to make them a stable Premier League club and I wouldn't put it past him, they've been on an upward journey since he took control of the club and had to make a big decision in sacking Robins.

Oh wow. Yeah so they will be in the National League North/South (guess geographically borderline). Amazing lol

Which season will we be in the same league do we think?

Not out the question they go up and are above us. I work with a Stockport season ticket holder though and she said she has a holiday booked when the Play off final is and doesn’t think it is going to cause a scheduling conflict lol

Obviously these Stockport, Wrexham, Lincoln and even Harborough as @The Doctormentions, are as much down to their own rises through the league but our fall is massive.

All normal and expected as far as the loyalists are concerned though.

The fact no one seems interested in the West Brom game says a lot.We are all resigned to the inevitable.

West Brom and Blackburn are safe. It’s been 2 from 3 for the past few games.

Nonsense, West Brom lose and we win ( will happen one day) and there is a point between us, even a draw for Brom and we win  there is no way they are out of it.

Hope we can do you a favour v then for you but not going to bank on it !

Of course they are not mathematically safe yet but they are picking up points and approaching 50 points.

We are unlikely to even reach their current points totals come the end of the season, let alone factor in further points they will gain.

It all rides on Portsmouth and Oxford.

Sad that I am I start to look at the league table and look at the highest position achievable. It’s possible, yeah I know, that 13th points wise could be achieved , not that I factor in who is playing who.

After this weekends matches it’s inevitable, won loose or draw, that “ achievable “ final position will get worse my guess is it will be no better than 16th.

WBA are creeping to safety, their form has massively improved but that 5 point gap is still able to be hunted down but that would take 2 games as we know.

As I have for many a week believe, no fear,  Oxford are the team from the three from them , Leicester&  Portsmouth that will get out of it.

We all know that it should never be like this but it is . Relegation from the PL is one thing but facing a relegation to the third tier is a defining moment in I guess how even the most ardent of supporters feel and despite what some say turning up on a wet Tuesday or a freezing Saturday ain’t the same when the opposition are Burton or Rotherham . No offence intended to those two clubs but these aren’t the level of opposition any LCFC will be comfortable with.

It’s the old ‘teams that can’t catch up’ or this season and last, ‘teams we can’t catch’.

Realistically, the highest we will finish would be 21st and that depends on Oxford and Portsmouth doing next to nothing.

We have won 17 out of the last 79 league games (21.5%). I really don’t know where people have this bizarre belief we will suddenly win 3 from the last 5 (60%).

We don’t have to worry about Rotherham by the way! Not until 2027/2028 in League 2 anyway

No matter which iteration of the numbers, no matter which direction the stats lead us it’s sickening to think that it’s all coming down to 4 or 5 games, games that realistically shouldn’t pose that much of a problem but the reality is that a group of well paid players aren’t worth the money they are being paid

No doubt the biggest concern to the majority of the players  is that one,  two even potentially three relegations will appear on their CVs in terms of concerns about the state of the club I very  much doubt that other than them declaring their love for the club the majority will give a toot.

Let’s be honest, the only teams we need to have our eye on are Portsmouth and Oxford.

Looking at the games today;

Leicester v Swansea - draw

Middlesbrough v Portsmouth - draw

Oxford v Watford - Oxford win

No doubt people will be surprised if/when Portsmouth take something back from Middlesbrough by lazily looking at league positions but it won’t be. Middlesbrough are awful and have dropped points at home to us, Oxford, Charlton, Bristol City in recent weeks and Blackburn earlier in the season.

Oxford that is a very favourable fixture for them.
