I have mentioned Wellens previously and was speaking to a mate at work who watches Leyton Orient a fair bit and he says he is the real deal, they play cracking football but high pressing and high intensity  he is absolutely my no 1 realistic choice especially given we are going to need a massive rebuild in the championship using the academy.

Shame that this squad don’t possess this guy’s level of desire. Get well soon Nigel

Of course he isn’t coming back and it’s probably for the best. We certainly need somebody in his mould though. We are hell bent on recruiting ‘footballing managers’ who all have a soft underbelly and create a squad with the same.

We need a complete reset and to get some identity and that starts with a manager laying the foundations by creating a group of players that want to play and that’s certainly what we lack.

I remember Pearson getting rid of Gradel and me thinking he was mad as he was our most talented player, in hindsight every time he did something like that with either him or getting rid of big money Mills he was doing this for the greater good of the squad. We need a manager who can not only spot those issues but drain that swamp as well. Managing players to the point of actually wanting to leave rather than picking up a pay packet

I’d be cautiously optimistic about Wellens.

For a front-foot side they adapted well to Man City, it’s just one game obviously but we need a manager that can coach a side with 60+ % possession and also to absorb pressure.

Danny Rohl should be looked at.

Doing pretty well with Shef Wed.

He certainly did a great job keeping them up last season when everyone thought they were dead and buried.  Saints were apparently thinking of gambling on him when they got rid of Martin.  I think that was a risk worth taking because of what he'd done last year in a similar situation, in case he could repeat the feat a level up.  Got them doing well this season too given their spend.

When we go down I think it's a no brainer to get him in personally.

Give him a season in the championship to get his tactics across, hopefully one or two of his players in, and then we should be much  etter adapted to play in the Premiership if we come back

Get the Cardiff manager in.  From the little I saw of the Cardiff Villa cup tie Cardiff were set up better than we have been this season.  They also showed more fight,

more desire and more passion.

Sarri!

Old.

Italian.

Free.

Not a bad idea actually. We need somebody tough and old school to put discipline back into the team.

Seeing as we will be in the championship next season here are some of the readily available foreign manager’s who imo we have a realistic chance of getting.
Obviously Top and Rudkin won’t know who any of them are.

Urs Fischer

Julien Stephan

Bo Svensson

Brian Priske

Mark Van Bommel

Kasper Hjulmand

Not saying these are perfect but I’d rather have any one of them than Dyche or Mr ego.
My pick would be Urs Fischer.

He’s not as good without Adi Viveash though mate. The two of them parting ways after their issues was the point where he started to struggle at cov.

Viveash is still out of a job – with how much the club love hiring ex-Cov staff you'd think offering him a a role here would be a no-brainer!

Trouble is whilst Rudkin remains here he will bring in another weak as piss yes man because we all know the direction is from the Top, they are just there to say yes.

It’s clear Pearson was the one who had a dream, not Vichai. King power have always been shit, the only reason we won anything was the structure, direction and team building of Pearson he took none of this bullshit. We need someone of that mentality unfortunately now we live in a weak as piss world where people get upset by words so it’s a dying breed of person.

I’m curious about Wellens. Always liked him as a player. Perhaps bring in Big Nige to sort Rudkin out as well.

2 things.

1. Isn't everything Wellens fault by default?

2. That would be a one sided boxing match. Pearson would just look at Rudkin and Pearson would make him cry like a baby. Nigel wins.

Hear me out on this

Roy Keane

Not a master tactician by any stretch but my god he’ll have that dressing room squared away in a no time.

His management style doesn’t work in the modern game - he always loses the dressing room. That’s why he hasn’t managed in 14 years.

I meant until the end of the season. Out of work (may be reasons for that!) he’d have seen us a bit due to his punditry

Get him in and ruffle some feathers. We can’t do any worse than we are currently

Problem is I think Ruud has ruffled a few feathers and questioned standards etc and the poor little darlings have got upset and gone running to Top snivelling.

Top and bottom of it is the owner treats these players like his best mates, pampers and gives them too much air time, there are no boundaries and in turn it isolates and undermines the manager.

The players know if they whinge to Top we will listen and massage their ego’s so as soon as a manager comes in and dishes out any home truths or raises standards to a level our players don’t like or agree with they down tools or sulk to the DoF and owner who enable their behaviour far too often.

the culture of the club is rotten to the core and that is due to not undertaking enough due diligence on players character as part of our transfer dealings and allowing players to have too much of voice and influence on the owner.

Spot on. And yet it is so simple. A manager who will instil standards, and I would suggest that most managers will do this if they know they are supported and backed by the club. I don’t think this bit is the problem, not like we’d be fishing in a small pond.

Players wise, it’s a generational thing. I think many players probably have both sides in them. We have just encouraged a culture of bringing out the worse in their characters. Of course there are bad eggs like Faes, Vestergard, Winks, Ward etc but mostly, they will be just looking for that guidance.

The one thing this rot stops with as you say is Top. He can fix all this by simply saying enough is enough.

There was rumours that his departure from Cov and subsequent non hire by anyone is down to off the field reasons

At Cardiff, he’s lost more games than he’s won.
