If Henderson isn't going to play come the World Cup - and let's be honest only 16 or 17 players will get anywhere near the pitch - you have to decide whether to take young players who are going as a learning experience, or players who will add something behind the scenes.  When your contact is 18 months long, you do the latter.

What does Henderson add behind the scenes though? Single digit IQ

Tuchel didn’t think much of Southgate and our performances in the Euros it seems .

Probably got a point but people are going to expect and demand better .

England did limp to the final and the final itself we were second best. A number of players probably felt they could have done more. We probably played better in Qatar two years before but only got to the quarter final and on the night played very well against France and maybe should have beaten them. Southgate I don't think had the knowledge or ability to turn this group into actual winners. Didn't know how to motivate them for the final mile.

Southgate did get the players respect, but he wasn't a strict manager. If a player was underperforming he would just put there arm round them and say "chin up, lets go again" instead of getting into their minds and say "it's not good enough, you need to maintain an high standard. Until then you won't win anything" the players need to be reminded of what's at stake and their squad places are never secure.

Tuchel can shit on Southgate as much as he wants tbf, and he was far from perfect, but he reached a semi, a final, a QF and a final in his four tournaments in charge.

Come back and quote me if we're world champions or take a team to penalties but lose in NJ next year, but results matter.

Talk the talk, walk the fvcking walk. As shit as we were in moments last year I adore the points of joy I saw under Southgate. A QF or RO16 exit now wouldn't touch the sides.

Deliver, Thomas, deliver. Unless people on here think a useless early exit on here is better than the results we had in major competitions under Gareth???

Say what you will about Tuchel, and he does seem as though he could start an argument in an empty phone box with no money, he's a winner.

He isn't afraid to make brave calls, often gets those calls right when nobody thinks he will and has an obsessive winning mentality. An exceptionally good knockout tournament coach who has won trophies everywhere he's been beyond Mainz, it'll be interesting to see if a genuinely world class coach can eke a trophy out of a very, very talented cohort.

Those Albania fans bless ‘em. Putting the shirt on, grabbing a flag and heading to a game where you’re inevitably going to lose 2,3,4-0, and doing that again and again. I mean, Imagine doing that

Should be an easy breeze through qualifying. The question is will having a German manager make us better at penalties if we get that far in a tournament

Modern football the unfancied do a full low block and the fancied team passing the ball back and forth across the pitch with the occasional flurry into the box.

Decent build-up there. Good instinct from Lewis-Skelly and a cracking pass from Bellingham.

Hopefully Albania will come out now and we might have a game

People already moaning lol

I guess you don’t understand just how hard it is to play against a real compact low block. Centre halves average position is well inside their half.

These games will very much seem similar to now we played under Southgate, only difference being we are moving the ball a lot quicker here.

The press seems more intense as well. Until this corner, they weren't giving Albania room to breathe on the rare occasions they had the ball.

I understand I just find it a tad repetitive and boring.  I’m not blaming the team or the manager it’s just how football is now and not how I get the most enjoyment from it, it’s very tactical but it just doesn’t grab me. It’s better now we’ve scored.
