Very true, but Saints fans will tell you that their board isn't exactly a paragon of competence itself. In terms of being a draw for Röhl, we might be much of a muchness. He's worked at Southampton before, but knows Glover here. Even location may be a factor depending on whether or not he and family are settled in Sheffield or surrounding areas.

I think if we were considering him that news would have slipped by now.

Danny Röhl is exactly the kind of manager Leicester should be targeting — forward-thinking, detail-obsessed, and actually capable of developing players. What he's done with a limited Sheffield Wednesday side is borderline miraculous. From bottom of the table to survival contenders with the same squad? That’s coaching. He’s also cut his teeth under the right people: Hassenhüttl, Flick, Nagelsmann — all managers who understand high-intensity, adaptable football. Röhl’s blend of pressing structure, flexibility, and attention to transitional play feels way more aligned with what worked for Leicester in the past than the sterile, dogmatic style of Maresca or the “just-vibes” era of Cooper. Plus, he doesn't come with the ego or baggage of a “big name,” which could finally shift the focus back to systems and squad cohesion rather than vanity projects. The question is: would Röhl leave Wednesday after what he’s building there? And would Leicester actually have the nerve to make a smart, left-field appointment instead of chasing the next shiny name? Either way, Röhl would represent a real philosophy shift — one that suggests the club has learned from its recent misfires. He’d have this group playing like a team again, even if they’re not the most talented bunch. Would you back him to build for the long term, or do you think he’d need some immediate results to keep the wolves at bay?"

The long term employee you don't have the heart to fire getting a nominal promotion that takes him away from the duties he's screwing up is a long tradition in saving face, and that's all this board really care about.

LinekersLugs Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 Good source tells me Liam Rosenior is high on the list Sheff Wed manager Rolo or what ever he is called has already agreed to go back to Southampton It seems City are looking at Rosenior closely 1
Claudio Fannieri Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 Craig Bellamy talking a lot of sense on Monday night football, think he would be a shrewd choice to replace Ruud
TeamRocket Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 Can we use the woman manager for rest of season 😞 1
dooflip Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 Loads of us remember the day we battered Man City at their place playing the exact opposite of the football we seem to be obsessed with, a style made popular by Man City. Madness. I was there that day, sat on my hands in the Man City end😂
dooflip Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 If we are paying to get Rosenior back from France, who we could have had for free in the summer, how the fck did we not pay 2m for corberan? The mind boggles. The board is not fit for purpose. 3
Sankey93 Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 Rohl to Leipzig Rosenior to stay at Strasbourg Welcome Russell Martin 🦊 1
dooflip Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 I’ve always stuck up for KP, and im honestly starting to struggle. I think im warming to change of ownership, not just a new board, dof, head of recruitment etc. as mentioned by many others, we need a manager in the red bull/heavy metal pressing style. what was the German fella who managed in the lower leagues here called? Uwe rosler? I’d even take him now if he’s still about!
volpeazzurro Posted 7 April 2025 Posted 7 April 2025 No manager is going to do any good whatsoever until there's been a huge clearout. The problem is we can't because the dross responsible have been given contracts with wages no other suckers would be willing to pay! We're absolutely stuck with them for the foreseeable. If we take it that Mads and El Khannouss will go with Vardy retiring, we need to rid ourselves of JJ, Coady, Vestergaard, Faes, Kristiansen, Ndidi, Winks, Soumare, Daka, Ayew, Reid and Mcateer! Bugger, we haven't got anyone left? That's how bad it is. 3
