Millwall -Good or Bad Omen

David Tuttle says he is looking forward to his new role as Millwall caretaker manager.

The 33-year-old succeeded Colin Lee as manager this week, with Lee moving into a director of football role with the Championship strugglers.

The move follows the club's decision to restructure their football management setup at The Den, as The Lions look to get off the bottom of the table.

Despite not having any prior experience as a manager, Tuttle told Sky Sports News that he is ready to lead the South East London outfit to better fortunes this season.

"Obviously, it's a challenge and there's always a challenge in front of you," Tuttle said. "I'm looking forward to it.

"We've got a very good bunch of lads here. They all know what is needed.

"We have to get out of the bottom three and stay up this season.

"I've been put in as caretaker manager and I'm going to take it game by game.

"Myself, the players and the staff are going to give it 110 percent and if the results go my way, which I'm hoping they will, then obviously I'll be knocking on the door to take the job full time.

"Things will be run similarly to the way Colin Lee was doing it. I've learned a lot from him and I've learned a lot from other managers I've worked with.

"But I've got my own way and I'm going to go with that way because basically, we have to get out of this situation."

The former Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Barnsley defender explained the process that led to his appointment as Lions boss.

"Basically, we've had a few meetings with the new chairman (Peter de Savary) and the new director Constantine (Gonticas), who has come in," he added.

"We've had some good conversations and they decided to make Colin Lee the director of football through his knowledge of the game and to help the youngsters coming through and to basically take the club forward.

"He's (de Savary) been involved in the whole scenario of it with the new director Constantine.

"They're very up front. They want the club to succeed and go forward and obviously, this is the way they have decided to go."

Tuttle stated he will have money to help boost the squad, but the new manager stressed it is a fresh chance for the club's existing players to impress.

"There will be money to be spent, but at least it gives the players another chance to prove they are Championship players," he said.

"In January, we may be looking for a couple more (players), but the squad here I believe can get out of relegation.

"At the end of the day, we've got to do it for our supporters and our football club."

I suppose they'll be wound up, tight as hell and out to pinch a winner.

Players often respond when there's money around that might put em out of a job.

Treat em like they're top of the League Craig - and I don't mean 4-5-1!.

Bad omen, this has given the Millwall players a much needed boost, and there next game happens to be us, typical.

They have the worst strikeforce in the entire league, with Bruce Dyer and Ben May. If we concede one goal it'll be a tradegy in itself.

Bad... this will give the ailing Millwall team a much needed lift they have been crying out for.

However, if we treat the game with the right attitude, come out firing on all cylinders and take the game to them, rather than waiting for it to come to us, then there is no reason why we can't win this bloody game.

Lets forking get in to em !!! :clap2:

Often you see teams when they have a change of manager have a couple of surprise results, so you never know..

But as it's an internal thing and the old bosses are still there, I don't think it will have the same effect as if they had replaced the whole lot and brought new folk in.

And to be fair, when Colin Lee's still around, you've got a great chance of winning. Crock of shite.

If us fans go into the game all negative it will rub off on the players, lets get a cracking atmosphere going again like Sheff Yoo and see if we cant get ourselves a decent win

Whether it's good or bad news we should be beating teams like Millwall and if we don't then we only have ourselves to blame.

Whilst i'm backing Levein to continue as manager, if we don't beat the likes of Crewe or Millwall at home and also have a truely disgusting away record then I might have to start conceding things have got to change.

Agree, it's all good playing nice football but winning is just as important, if we can't win our home games and especially against poorer or struggling opposition, questions need to be asked!!!

Remember, we are not too good to get relagated, but just to add i don't think we will
