I think 5 hours of driving for everyday of training is hardly conducive to being on top of your game.

Completely agree...and he should be judged based on that...but that's his choice and it affects his career. There should be no prerequisite to live a certain distance from the training ground.

Should dock his wages, its going against the manager demands. I do think club should put a rule in the contract where player must live within an hour of the training ground.

Can’t believe the amount of positive comments are on here about RVN dealing with this issue. He’s been a complete failure from a management perspective. He’s desperate to improve standards off the pitch but he seems to have absolutely no care about standards ON the pitch which have plummeted significantly from even the poor levels under Cooper. He’s forced players to stop commuting but how has that helped Vestergaard for example? He’s now in the bomb squad.

Picking unnecessary fights with one of our better midfielders who’s just had a kid and who commuted every day during Enzo’s stint (and with no problems) seems stupid and the act of an increasingly desperate leader. The fact is he has none of the team other than arguably Luke Thomas actually playing for him would suggest he needs to look closer to home and his own management techniques which have dumped creative players, ignored youth, demotivated the entire squad and alienated the fans.

One of our better midfielders.

This is what happens when anyone tries to impose a bare minimum of standards at a club where the owner wants to be best mates with all of the players. They’ve been getting to run the show and do whatever they want for years.

Have you ever had to a regular long commute? I'm telling you now it ain't easy. It grinds on you. The traffic, the shit drivers, accidents, road closures, and before anyone says "yeah but he's got an awesome 100k+ car so makes it easier" . Nah it doesn't - maybe for the first week. But after that it's the same old. Takes you a couple of hours to get back to 100% so yeah I get why RVN wants him to stay.

Plus from my experience with Winks, he's a right misreble shit.

Completely understand why Ruud would want it, but he's got no right to demand it if its not contracted. He's got a newborn, who knows if there's been complications, maybe his partner has PND, maybe he just wants to be around for something that's more important than football...as long as he's turning up on time and performing to the standard set in training, there should be no issue.

I've got no issue with Ruud deciding he isn't training well enough and dropping him for that, but if it's solely cause he won't agree to spend a night away a week, it's a petty power play to distract from the fact Ruud is becoming one of the worst PL managers ever seen

Baffled by the reaction on here. It's 100 miles down the M1, probably takes him 2 and a half hours.

He's hardly jetting in from Siberia is he

You’re right, but if it takes him 2 and a half hours per day, 6 days a week, that’s a lot of unnecessary travel for an athlete to be making, that also in many case stops the player being able to spend time with the squad post match etc etc.

As I said earlier I’m genuinely not too fussed, I think it’s far healthier for a player to be local to the club, especially if spending time with his newborn is a priority it would make no sense adding all that travel time each day, I just want him to look like he gives a toss on the pitch.

Players living far away was never an issue under Pearson, why is it now? Kasper, Drinkwater, Simpson etc all used to do it. Just a none issue really. Rather we fcked Ruud off

Unfortunately for us, this isn’t just a Ruud issue. It’s indicative of what’s gone on at the club for years and it’s no coincidence that overpaid players given absurd amounts of leeway are getting relegated for the second time in three years.

The Nottinghamshire thing is annoying but fine, it’s close to Seagrave. Commuting from London is taking the piss.

The pally-pally players can do what they want attitude from Aiyawatt was fine when the squad was comprised of title winners.

Now, the squad is full of overpaid twats who can’t justify any special treatment - if they don’t like it f uck off. All aided and abetted by Rudkin’s crap contracts.

People move towns to work minimum wage jobs. These guys are in their early years and can't even consider making suitable working arrangements. Fully back ruud on this and the next manager if they decide the same.

Otherwise it's just normalising mercenary culture.

The current culture at the club is completely different and so much more toxic than it was under Pearson. That was 10+ years ago.

Storm in a teacup. How many times as he played recently? When he has what impact has he had? This is a smokescreen for what I do not know.

I do about 50 mins each way, once a week - leaving just after 7am and getting home just before 5pm. That wipes me out. Can't imagine being in a car 5 hours a day, all week is good for your health or your legs.

Winks was commuting last season and it wasnt an issue. Why is it now? It would of been agreed with Maresca when he first signed

If your manager asks you to do something you ****ing do it, these overpaid entitled ****wits need a dose of reality.

If I turned up to work everyday on time they wouldn't say a thing. And if I had a manager who was as shit as Ruud is I wouldn't listen to a word he said.

I like the question to be asked why didn't you move to the area when you first signed for club. Just makes more sense and easier. Thats 4 hours of driving a day... dread to think how early he needs to be up.

Because he was playing against much worse opposition that flattered him.

He’s not good enough for this level and unwilling to accommodate some reasonable requests that might improve his game.
